Ship Happens is a popular AMV on shipping in the anime fandom. The video is set to the parody song I Ship It celebrating crack and non-canon ships.

It stars Haruhi Suzumiya as she tells Kyon and other members of the SOS Brigade club about her favorite anime pairings. She extols the virtues of ships between numerous unlikely pairings from different shows including Sailor Moon/Son Goku and Kaldur'ahm/Katara. As well as some actually popular fandom ships like Madoka/Homura, Lelouch/Suzaku, and Kawoshin. As the AMV ends it is implied that Haruhi is working on getting Kyon and Itsuki Koizumi together, locking them in a room alone.

Creator's Notes

Here it is!

The idea for this AMV came from two good friends of mine from college. They posted the song on my wall and demanded I make a video with it. After fighting off a few other editors I decided that this would be my Otakon 2014 video. I spent most of the final months of school discussing this AMV with Emily and Jessica, and what ships would be hilarious. It was Jessica who originally stumbled on the idea of Edward Elric and Eren Jaeger - and I ran with it.

After I finished Anime 101 I had a lot of constructive feedback from the editing community about my technicals. Mostly about my color correction. So when I started this video I had two goals in mind : Finish in time for Otakon and improve on the things people usually harped on me about. Overall I think this video is the cleanest of all my comedies. This is the direction I want to move my editing in.

I was really overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received at Otakon. The audience reaction was by far one of the best I have ever gotten, and many people approached me after my panels, the contest and Iron Editor to talk about how much they loved the video and how they were huge fans of my work. I was really touched by this - I love hearing that I inspired people -- So Thank you![1]

Oh this is just beautiful :) You outdid yourself this time, I especially love the little details you notice when pausing some scenes. That picture of Erwin and Levi on the Titanic made me squeal *w* cough I'm a yaoi fangirl cough

You know this AMV is really empowering. First, it's perfect Haruhi is the one declaring all this. Because it's Haruhi: she is God and what God says goes, especially in her case. Then there's the fact she's saying stuff I've always felt, but felt embarrassed about declaring it out loud. But here she is saying, "I don't care, I love it anyway!" Makes you think you can feel the same of yourself in more things besides just shipping.

Saw this at the Yaoicon AMV competition (where it won, of course!). I have never seen that group laugh so hard, and I was falling off my chair with them. Seven years later it's one of my favorite Yaoicon memories (and that con was always so much fun). I've watched this dozens of times over the years, and it's still just as amazing as that first time.
