Kyon is a main character and the narrator of the light novel and anime franchise The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. He often acts as the straight man of the series.
Canon
Kyon meets Haruhi Suzumiya in high school and gives her the idea to create a club while attempting small talk. She does so, setting off the events of the series by getting Kyon to help her create the SOS Brigade. He becomes one of five members after Haruhi successfully recruits Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina, and Itsuki Koizumi to join.
