Iron Editor is a type of Anime Music Video competition often found at anime conventions or over the internet. In these competitions AMV editors compete live over the course of a few hours, usually one or two, to create an AMV. The name and some aspects of the format come from the Japanese cooking show Iron Chef.

In addition to the time limit, editors must generally adhere to an assigned theme and use only provided footage sources. Typically there is also a secret "ingredient" or source revealed at the start of the competition that must be utilized. The creations are then judged and a winner declared. Iron Editors are known for being difficult, both because of the speed necessary and the difficulty of fitting to the restrictions in such a short period.
