Otakon is the second-largest anime convention in the United States and the largest on the East Coast. In 2010, there were nearly 30,000 attendees.

In 2017, the convention was moved from Baltimore to Washington, DC. [1]

Otakon is a fancon, with a strict policy against accepting money from corporations that request anything in return.[2]

The convention hosts several contests and events, including AMV and Cosplay contests. Otakon also hosts a well-established Iron Editor contest.
