Pin-up art is a visual-art genre which presents the physical form of the subject (typically a woman) in a manner intended to evoke aesthetic and/or sexual appeal. It developed out of posters of models and actresses mass produced in the 1940s and 1950s for "pinning up" on walls. The genre is sometimes known informally as cheesecake within North America.

This genre is contrasted with sexually-explict fanart in that it generally ranges from suggestive (if not SFW) to risqué. The bodies of pin-up subjects are depicted either partially clothed, or with the genitals (and often female nipples) concealed by creative posing, towels, objects, etc.
