Blackwall is a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and a possible love interest for female Inquisitors.
Pre-Release
Early DAI fandom had little info to go on about Blackwall beyond concept art showing an older, bearded Grey Warden. He had many nicknames before his name was revealed, including Feathers, Ser Bara Warden, and various others that focused on his bearded manliness. While some fans hoped that Blackwall would be a love interest, he was considered a longshot. Some people saw him as a mentor figure more than an LI. Fans suspected that Blackwall is close to his Calling—the time when Grey Wardens head into the Deep Roads to slay as many darkspawn as possible before the taint destroys them. A Blackwall romance might have similarities with Mass Effect's terminally ill Thane Krios, it was suggested. It was officially revealed that female Inquisitors would have the chance to "climb the wall."
