Deejay is a long-time fan—since the late 1970s—and an active contributor to whatever fandoms she is in at the time. She has been a fanfic writer, fanfic editor, graphics artist, sci-fi/fantasy costumer and beta reader. She has published fanzines, and currently moderates online communities, writes fanfic and creates vids. She is perhaps best known as a songvidder and as a conventions organizer and chairman - for both fan-only and professional-guest cons. Has taught lots of fabulous vidders how to vid.

Creator and webmanager of Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen's official web site, '...Starring Angus Macfadyen' ("S.A.M."), since 2003.

DJ made her first vid (I'll Be Mellow When I'm Dead) in one night, at a con, in 1988 in Mary Van Duesen's hotel room, while Mary and Paul slept.

Deejay's vids were often handed out to fans as recruiter vids. In 1993, Sandy Herrold related the following anecdote to the Virgule-L mailing list. It is reposted here with permission:

"True story--not too long ago, [an actor from the TV show The Professionals was at a Southern California fan's house, and she decided to show him some song vids. He loved "Too Long a Soldier" and made her call DJ so he could ask her to make her copies of (quote) 'all the Bodie songids she'd done.' DJ's no idiot--she looks at all the Bodie songvids she's done, and decides he doesn't need/want to see most of them! (He knows about slash, but is UNAMUSED.) She finally does send him Mellow when I'm dead, Too Long, and a couple of others. (I'm still sad she decided not to send him Deteriarata (sp)--she decided against it relistening to the line--"know what to kiss, and when..."

Fan Comments

My last recommendation is a bit controversial and is definitely not for our younger brothers and sisters. This one is NC-17. I must admit that I am usually not a fan of the fanfic slash genre - it just doesn't ring true for the characters I see when I watch the show. So I was very surprised when I read Deejay's first story "The Road Not Taken" and found that I was able to believe the characters and circumstances. This isn't just a sex piece, it is a complete story that follows Scully on a vacation where she runs into trouble and into a few surprises. This story has two sequels I recommend as well, "Snapshots" and "Crossroads". Even if this isn't your usual cup of tea, I think you'll be surprised by this wonderful series.
