Tighnari is a playable five star Dendro character in Genshin Impact. Tighnari was released on August 24, 2022, along with the release of Genshin Impact version 3.0.
Canon
He is the Chief Officer of the Forest Rangers in Sumeru, and a renowned botanical scholar who belonged to the Amurta darshan when he was in the Akademiya. Tighnari is a kind and compassionate person, but he can also be stern, straightforward and demanding, especially when it comes to protecting the Avidya Forest. He is a dedicated and hardworking individual.
Fandom
As he was one of the first Dendro characters to be revealed, he was highly anticipated by the Genshin Impact community. However, his design received mixed opinions among fans. Some of them complained that it was too cluttered and overwhelming, pointing to the fact that he has a lot of different elements to his design, such as his ears, tail, and lots of accessories in his colorful clothing.[1][2]

Shipping
Cynonari is the most overwhelmingly popular ship involving Tighnari, as Cyno and him are close friends. There are nearly 3000 works on AO3 in the romantic tag and more than 600 in the platonic tag as of November 2023. Fans also include him in the poly ship with Cyno, Alhaitham and Kaveh, or any of them individually. Albedo/Tighnari rose in popularity after the Windblume Festival 2023, as they share a few scenes together. The most popular het ship for Tighnari on AO3 is Tighnari/Traveler.
Controversy
Elliot Gindi sexual harassment scandal
In February 2023, Tighnari's voice actor, Elliot Gindi, was accused by multiple fans (some of them underage) of sexual harassment, grooming, emotional abuse and blackmail, among other things. Gindi admitted some of the claims but denied others.[3] Colleagues and fans of the video game reacted with shock and disgust and many asked for him to be fired. Several days later Hoyoverse confirmed that he had been fired due to contract breach, and that all Tighnari's existing voice lines will be gradually replaced once the new voice actor is chosen.
