Celestia Ludenberg, aka Celeste or Celes, is a student from Dangan Ronpa. She was a semi-prominent character within the series and popular with fans. Celeste debuted in Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, though did not survive The Mastermind's Killing Game.
Canon Overview
Celestia Ludenberg claims to have an eccentric past. She is of French nobility and she has taken entire fortunes of famous gamblers that sound suspiciously like Iwao Washizu, Shigeru Akagi, Soyo Nakashizu, Nao Kanzaki, and Shinichi Akiyama from manga. All of this in a country where gambling is illegal and controlled by Yakuza.
This is just one of her many intricate lies. She was born Taeko Yasuhiro in Utsunomiya, (one of the few named hometowns in the entire series,) to a working-class family. While it is true that she is a semi-professional gambler, her backstory was entirely fabricated. She was scouted by Hope's Peak Academy to enroll in their specialty school with the title Super High School Level Gambler in Japanese and Ultimate Gambler in English.
She puts on a polite, aristocratic personality, but goes berserk in rage when angered or annoyed. During the Killing Game, she once made Hifumi Yamada make her tea. In her Free Time Events, she was friendly and polite with Makoto Naegi and even considered him worthy of being her knight. She loves lolita fashion and is a member of that subculture.
During Chapter 3, she manipulated Yamada into murdering Kiyotaka Ishimaru, then she murdered Yamada herself. This lead to her to being executed by Monokuma after being found out by Naegi.
November 23rd is her birthday. In Japan, this is Game Day, a piece of trivia which may be referenced in fanworks. - Celeste's most popular pairing is with Kyoko Kirigiri, which is F/F, aka Girls' Love. In Japanese, this is most often called 霧セレ, meaning Kirigiri is the tachi and Celeste is the neko in the coupling. It is the second-most popular F/F relationship in all of Trigger Happy Havoc fandom.
