Image Categories

As usual, I'm in over my head in adding categories to imported images. If anyone wanted to give a hand, I'd be most grateful. They are at: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Special:UncategorizedFiles --MPH (talk) 20:21, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Done (for now) :). Wasn't sure where to put File:Smithbadge.jpg, so I left it, then completely forgot to get back to you. WhatAreFrogs? (talk) 08:30, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
I am so grateful! It is a never-ending battle to get uploaded files categorized. I used to have a goal of keeping the number to a dull roar of under fifty or less, then extended that to one hundred. But then I'd back off for just a little while, and I swear, there'd be 600 of them! Thank you, WhatAreFrogs? for working on them. --MPH (talk) 14:04, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Your User:Aris TGD note

About your request on the User:Aris TGD talk page. What do you mean by "a different template"? I want to help, but I'm a little confused.--Alex (talk) 17:26, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

I think I was confused by the difference between a User page, and a page for that fan. I took the template off. --MPH (talk) 17:46, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

News Media Category Organization

I'm clearly over my head in the News Media section. I think I have correctly cataloged the pages themselves but now don't know how to organize them all in a coherent and logical way. I'm trying to model the categories in it after the Meta pages (regarding Perspectives on Fans, News Media by Year, and individual fandom News Media articles). I'm game for putting all these categories on the individual pages, but need some examples done right, so I can emulate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --MPH (talk) 13:01, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Convergence con

Hey do you remember why you deleted CONverge (con zine) page? I can't find a reason for it and there are several redirects to that page and I don't know what to do with them. --Alex (talk) 14:57, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure I did it because it wasn't so much a con zine as a program book with some fiction in it. I combined it with the con page itself. Hope that helps, and I apologize for muddying the waters on it. --MPH (talk) 23:11, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
It's okay, I wouldnt even notice if it wasn't for the double redirects that were left behind. :) --Alex (talk) 07:46, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Horizon fiction zines and letter zines

Hello! I thought I'd be helpful and add the Horizon images (22 and 23 from Brunhilda's tumblr) into the page - but Fanlore told me that I was duplicating the images. Only then did I realise that you'd already inserted them into the Horizon Letterzine page. Although the timing is similar, I think that they must be Horizon (Blake's 7 fiction anthology) - I'd move them over, but not sure what should be left on the letterzine page. All this assuming you agree with my conclusions as well! --Aralias (talk) 23:02, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Please, totally move them over. I thought there was something suspicious about the last two covers of a struggling letterzine looking that fabulous. Thank you for catching it. --MPH (talk) 23:14, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
Actually, I just moved them over myself. Check both zines, maybe, to make sure it all lines up? --MPH (talk) 23:20, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
Awesome! Thank you. I also tricked Hermit into telling me what was inside it by not following the link they gave me. --Aralias (talk) 19:17, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Blake's 7: A to Z

I'm putting together a zine order with the Rondeaus and noticed they had a copy of Blake's 7 A-Z: An Index to B7 Fiction. Do you know if the story synopsis info in that has been added to Fanlore? --Greenygal (talk) 17:56, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure they haven't been. I've never seen a copy of it in hand. It could be a neat thing to use on Fanlore. --MPH (talk) 19:03, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Excellent, I shall add it to the list and see if it has anything useful. --Greenygal (talk) 19:37, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Yay! I know that the summaries and zine info on Judith Proctor's site largely come from Sarah Thompson's zine set, but I don't know anything about this fan's zine. --MPH (talk) 20:05, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Oops...

Hello Mrs. Potato Head, thanks for correcting my mistake. I used the name credited on the cassette cover and I assumed that was the desired attribution. It seems I was incorrect, for which I apologise. Since I'm a clubie here, is there any way I can avoid making that mistake again? I've no intention of upsetting anyone...

By the way, I've sent the image right since it was breaking the page in my browser. I hope that's ok; feel free to revert if not.

I intend to import some page formatting templates (esp. {{Div col}}) from Wikipedia; I assume that's ok providing attribution is given in the edit summary, per WP's licence arrangement. Is there an internal reason I shouldn't do this?

Best regards, Orac of the Seven (talk) 00:50, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

No worries! There are a few fans who prefer pseuds on Fanlore, something that for most people is impossible to know. Other folks here see them, and hopefully switch them out.
I don't know much about formatting templates, but it sounds like you have a good plan.
I'm super happy to see your edits on the filks and on the Blake's 7 articles, and want to welcome you to Fanlore. :) --MPH (talk) 01:16, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you; it's good to meet you too. :-) I'm an ex-wikipedian so I know a few formatting tricks... ;) Orac of the Seven (talk) 02:54, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Page moves and template import questions

Hi again MPH, where would I request/discuss a page move? The page in question is Deliverance 1998, which should be at Deliverance '98, that convention's official title. I've opened a discussion on the article's talk page.

That's the perfect spot for that question. Another solution would be to add this template to the top of the page: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Template:AttentionGardeners --MPH (talk) 18:33, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

I'm considering importing the [navbox template] from Wikipedia, which could be used to make navigating the B7 pages here easier for readers. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this? BTW, we now have {{div col}} and {{div col end}} for formatting columns. Thanks, Orac of the Seven (talk) 18:00, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

This is an area I know nothing about. You could send a message to the gardeners to give them a head's up, but unless there's a good reason not to, I don't see why you could not go ahead. Anything that makes it easier for people is good. Info about gardeners is here: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Fanlore:Gardeners --MPH (talk) 18:33, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

The Kahn it tu people

Forfor years I have wanted to buy or read this please tell me how Jerr west (talk) 09:46, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

Sadly, I've never seen the zine (https://fanlore.org/wiki/The_Kahn-Ut-Tu_People) itself, Jerr west. You best bet would be to keep an eye on ebay. --MPH (talk) 12:15, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

Image at top of Elim Garak page

Hi Mrs. Potato Head! I'm tracking the Elim Garak page, and I noticed you moved the image of the Terok Nor cover to the top and captioned it as a picture of Elim Garak. However, it's a picture of Gul Dukat.

Of the images on the page, I think the cover of In Exile #1 would be perfect as a featured/header image. It's a beautiful picture of Garak that captures him well.

Thanks for all the work you do to update and maintain so many categories. I see your name all over!

EDIT: Since it's a wiki, I went ahead and figured out how to switch the images myself, so it's done.

Thank you, Mrs260, for several things: noticing my error, fixing the problem, and for your lovely compliment. :-) --MPH (talk) 18:37, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Scans, etc.

Thanks for the kind words. I try to do justice to zine covers. Still have some of my collection to go through so will be adding where and when I can. Have letterzines, Pressure point and Neutral arbiter from Blake's 7 fandom which I will adding shortly. Let me know if I can improve contributions.
