Pining While Fucking is sub-category of the popular pining trope in fanfiction.
Pining While Fucking subverts the UST or Slow Burn aspects, which are central aspects of many "traditional" pining narratives, in which the characters burn for each other from afar. In these stories, the characters are engaged in sexual activity (for example in Friends With Benefits, sex pollen or omegaverse situations) and the pining is purely sentimental: one of the characters (or both, in the case of mutual pining) has feelings that they believe, rightly or not, to be one-sided.
This might put a stop to the fucking, temporarily (or permanently, in angsty stories) or lead to a revelation that the feelings were requited all along and therefore to *more* fucking!
In some variations on the trope, a character might be fucking one person and pining for someone who they believe to be a different person -- but who is actually the *same person* due to Identity Porn or Love Square reasons!
