Patrick Stewart is a British actor, probably best known to fans for playing Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard, and Charles Xavier in the X-Men Films. The actor has also done Shakespearian stage plays and is sometimes recognized for his activism and op-ed writings.

His friendship with Ian McKellen is sometimes the subject of celebrity gossip due to their public displays of platonic affection, including kissing. There is some fannish carryover in the RPF pairing of Ian McKellen/Patrick Stewart.

During a Newsweek interview, Stewart responded to an interviewer calling Trekkies weird.

"How many do you know personally? You couldn’t be more wrong. Here’s the thing: if you say the fans are weird, that means there is something essentially weird about the show, and there is nothing weird about it. I’m very passionate when people like you snigger."[1]
