Orion Archives: 2284-2323 Captain Sulu is a gen and het Star Trek: TOS anthology that reprints content published in previous Orion Press zines in particular from Orion. Some of the later issues also reprint online fanfic. The early issues are numbered, later on the titles are organized by the fictional timeframe the zine takes place in (many Orion Press zines take place in a vaguely shared universe at least as far as the basic chronology of the Trek universe is concered. Their website offers timelines and such that the zines adhere to). Issues are still being released as of 2009, and there are also re-releases of older Orion Archives issues. A full list is available at the Orion Press website.

Summary from flyer: "Captain Hikaru Sulu assumes command of the U.S.S. Cooper, an Oberth-class science ship. For the next five years, he commands missions that Starfleet doesn't feel worthy of the attention of one of it's top-of-the-line starships. Fortunately, he's got a good crew. But patience pays off, and in 2290, he receives the command of the starship of his dreams: Excelsior. Unfortunately, his crew leaves a lot to be desired."

  • "Return to Xantharus" written by Randall Landers ("Return to Xantharus" is an episodic piece, focusing on Sulu as he now commands the U.S.S. Cooper, a small science survey ship while on a diplomatic assignment to the Barrier Alliance. Unfortunately, the Tholians have plans which may interfere with this mission. Note: Sexual themes.)
  • "Never Forget" written by Rick Endres & Elizabeth Knauel (Captain Sulu of the U.S.S. Cooper finds a world dead, a dying Romulan, and a new romance in his last mission before his long hoped-for transfer to the U.S.S. Excelsior. Note: Sexual situations.)
  • "Until We Meet Again" written by Shayna Gitnick (Having finally gotten command of the starship of his dreams, Hikaru turns to an old friend to serve as his executive officer.)
  • "Bloodlines" written by Rick Endres & Elizabeth Knauel (Begins the day Jim Kirk disappeared into the Nexus, and runs through the rest of the month; includes some of the events of Chekov's Enterprise and Generations. The Klingons relish the fact that Leonard McCoy literally goes through hell as he faces the death of James T. Kirk and the death of his beloved wife, Teresa, and their children. Note: Graphic violence and sexual situations.)
  • "The Spider's Lair" written by Randy Landers (It comes to Hikaru Sulu and the crew of the U.S.S. Excelsior to defeat a creature that once bested James T. Kirk.)
