Barbara is a playable hydro character and healer in Genshin Impact.
Canon
Barbara is a Deaconess of the Church of Favonius, and tries her best to serve the church through her musical performances. Her bright personality and musical prowess has made her into something of an idol around Mondstadt, and she has attracted her own fan club which follows her around. Her older sister is the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, and Barbara often worries about measuring up to her success.

Barbara ships are uncommon in Genshin fandom, though the most popular is the Incest pairing Barbara/Jean. Other common ships are Barbara/Diluc and Barbara/Traveler.

Controversies
1.3 update voice change
February 3 2021, the 1.3 update "All That Glitters" was released, which came with an updated version of Barbara's voice lines. The new voice lines were met with negative responce, with many fans perceiving them as being more "depressed" than the original lines. Later that day, voice actress Laura Stahl put out a status explaining that the new voice lines were not her decision, and not to ask her about the changes [1]. The next day, a petition was launched to get Mihoyo to revert back to the original voice lines[2].
