Archer is a Team Rocket Executive who was originally one of many unnamed Team Rocket Executives in Pokémon Gold and Silver, released in 1999. In 2010, he was given a unique design and name for the Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver remakes. Before then, he appeared in Pokémon Special and was known as 'Carl' in English and 'Kurtz' (カーツ) in Japanese.
Him, Ariana, Petrel and Proton are often in fanworks together, since they are the four Executives present in these games. Unlike the others, Archer was also in Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee as Giovanni's right-hand man, which also gave him a new design, often seen in fanart for him.
The Pokémon he is most associated with is Houndoom.
Archer is not to be confused with Archie, another villainous Pokemon character with a similar name.
