X-Men (1999-2004, 2011)

"Core canon, Ultimate, Movieverse (X1, X2, First Class), and various and sundry. Two completed novels, a novel in progress, and a couple of completed novellas." Posted in chronological order of writings.

Comics

  • Future Pluperfect - After driving those who love him up the wall with his tunnel vision, Cable finds the shoe on the other foot.
  • The Dark Spot - Our Fearless Leader ruminates on the youngest member of the team…
  • The Ties that Bind - For the first year of X-Force, the Domino we meet is not the real Dom, but an impersonator working for Cable's (son and) enemy Tolliver. The key part of the deception is the co-opting of the psi-link between Cable and Domino.
  • Deck the Halls - It's the first Christmas after the opening of the Xavier Academy and Jean realizes that she's not the young woman she was at the start of the school year while Scott tries his best to deal with a time of year that he enjoys very little.
  • Music Appreciation - A rainy afternoon at the X-mansion reveals a little culture clash.
  • Fairy Tale - Jean Grey is dealing with her husband's death a lot less well than she lets on.
  • The Ticket (part 1) (part 2) Thematically a continuation of Fairy Tale, but it's really a companion piece to Deck the Halls. Jean and Scott, through the years.
  • Three Princes - Unresolved issues betwixt UXM 390 and XM 110, featuring two of the fellows in question loves.
  • Eurydice Rising - The body was easy enough to find -- just how many white guys (who answer to 'Slim' in any language) are running around in Akkaba with bandages over their eyes? -- but finding the soul was a lot harder. We know what Jean and Nathan were doing during The Search for Cyclops, but what was Scott up to?
  • Priam's Lament - Corsair has time to think after Scott falls asleep at the end of Uncanny 391.
  • Phone Home - Alex Summers is back and reacts to the latest news while waiting for a ride home.
  • White Rabbit - Alex Summers has always known that you don't leave the X-Men behind for good. As he embarks on a new life in the 'ordinary' world, Alex tries to strike a balance between being a civilian geologist and being Havok. But his two worlds are about to collide in an event that changes them both forever and Alex finds himself drawn back into 'the good fight' in a way he never expected. Starting concurrently with "Dreamweaver" and running through "Pandora's Box", a tale set in the Outsider's Arc and Pantheon universe featuring Alex, Lily, and Dane Summers.
  • My Alex... - There was a meme, both on LJ and on X-Fiction, asking writers to describe "their" characters as they saw them. First of two. My Alex Summers.
  • Unapologetic - Scott Summers, circa Astonishing X-Men #1/NXM #157. His relationship with Emma Frost doesn't dishonor Jean Grey-Summers. It respects her. (finished 1 June 2004)

Ultimates

  • Dasyatidae - Ult-X. Piotr takes the day to himself to visit the past and ponder the future.
  • Acts of Contrition - Piotr Rasputin knew the penance for his past life would be hard. But he couldn't have imagined the path he'd take or the cost of failure should he stumble. Unfinished
  • My Piotr... - There was a meme, both on LJ and on X-Fiction, asking writers to describe "their" characters as they saw them. Second of two. My Ultimate Colossus.

Movieverse

  • Remnant of the Past - X-Men Movieverse: The story still stands -- it's really like a director's cut of the movie with a lot of extra scenes and character/plot development thrown in -- but I view this as an early exercise in writing the X-world.
  • Still Life. X2. Colossus, Nightcrawler, a garden, a conversation. Completed 19 May 2003. I wanted to start working on a movieverse fanon that was kind to Colossus. Because that would be the first X-verse that would be kind to Colossus.
  • Recommence. First Class. A coda to the 2011 film. Charles has more work to do than merely erasing Moira's memories if he wants to keep his pupils safe. Repairing all of the other damage, to himself and to others, will not be as simple.
Unfinished
  • Term Project - A sequel to Remnant. Combine the movie cast with (my version of) a movie-ized Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Beast, throw in a certain Dr. Essex, and poof! A story. Post-movie, chronologically.
  • Mayor Magneto - the answer to a Magneto challenge... somewhere between comicverse (main timeline, a dash of AoA, and Ultimate X) and movieverse. Erik Magnus Lehnsherr as a New York Jew (in all that that implies) with an eye on Gracie Mansion. This was started well before Mike Bloomberg's 2001 mayoral campaign, which nonetheless pretty much killed the story because while, as far as I know, Emperor Bloomberg does not require anyone to refer to him as the Master of Magnetism, this city's only big enough for one successful businessman turned imperial mayor.
  • Shine - Emma Frost post-New X-Men 116. It's basically finished -- what I would consider an acceptable draft to send to a beta reader -- but I've never polished it off because I don't know whether it accomplishes anything. It was a pure reaction piece to the dialogue (quoted in the piece) in the issue between Emma and Jean.

DCU and Other Comics (2003-2006)

JSA, Green Lanterns, and some random stuff that proves that I've barely acclimated to the first Crisis, let alone the Infinite one. Also housing my two Rising Stars and Daredevil stories.

DCU

  • Pythagoras Says [Hawkgirl]: Kendra Saunders on the two-body love triangle she finds herself smack dab in the middle of.
  • Reveille: Sand, sometime in the middle of JSA #5, comes to terms with who he is and where he's come in the last few weeks. Featuring Jack Knight, Starman. Sand-Related Items: Quick Biography and Sandman Mystery Theatre timeline.
  • Clockwatching: Kyle Rayner, during his self-imposed exile on Oa, gets a visitor who knows both where he is and where he's been.
  • Human Nature: In the Secret Files to JLA/JSA: Virtue & Vice, Sentinel (Alan Scott) finds out that the green lantern power he's always wielded through his ring has been internalized -- he's comprised solely of the mystical Starheart energy. Nobody ever really showed how he took the news.
  • Testimone: Helena Bertinelli, the Huntress, gets a raw deal from everyone, even those who are in no position to criticize. She's aware of this.
  • Outsiders: Secret Origins: The first four pages of Outsiders 12 show Arsenal talking to a mysterious man, the benefactor of the team. My theory.
  • The Ghost of Christy Mathewson: Further adventures in the invented backstory of Sand Hawkins.
Short Stuff
Silliness
Requests

There was a meme - put in a request, get fic back. The results. Featuring Nightwing, the Martian Manhunter, Sand, Mazikeen, and more.

WIP

Other Comics Fic

Rising Stars
  • Rising Stars Timeline. JM Straczynski's mostly brilliant series lacks sorely in chronological landmarks. The start of what will be a more detailed version.
  • Twenty Questions: Lionel in RS 21.

Daredevil

Homicide: Life on the Street (1997-1999)

"Mostly casefic, actually, and the Fells Point Fromage series."

  • Man Bites Dog: Not a challenge fic. The 'zine story that wasn't. Set after "The Gas Man," Bolander returns to the squad to find himself and Munch on a dog of a case. A study in partnership. My last - and best - H:LotS story.
  • Fells Point Fromage: A challenge was issued: rescue Munch and Detective Brian Cassidy (Winters) from the evil clutches of SVU and put them in Baltimore. The challenge title came from one of the only bright spots in the pilot, a goofy moment when poor Detective Cassidy doesn't remember what the formal word for fondling is (frottage) and says "fromage" instead. I was the only one who answered this challenge. Seven stories later, it's my most well-known work. There is a rough chronology -- later stories make references to earlier goings-on -- but it's not imperative to read them all.
    1. Location, Location, Location [PG-13 | 25 K] Introducing the Baltimore Brian Cassidy.
    2. Fish Tale [PG-13 | 25 K] Summary: Cassidy and Munch get to work, Lewis and Kellerman get at each other.
    3. Zoo Life [PG-13 | 25 K ] Summary: In life, as in crime, witnesses are a bane, partners are a mixed blessing, and not everyone is what they seem..
    4. The Luck of the Draw [PG-13 | 24 K] Summary: Cassidy's revenge.
    5. Hair of the Dog [PG-13 | 33 K] Summary: At Christmas, it is important to give as good as you get..
    6. Deja Vu All Over Again [NC-17 | 18 K] Summary: Freud would have plenty to say about Brian Cassidy's day at the office.
    7. Much Ado About Not Much At All [PG-13 | 21 K] Summary: Partnership is a delicate balance.
    8. Body of Evidence [PG-13 | 23 K ] Summary: The squad gets their jollies where they can.
  • Diary
    1. Before the Fall [PG-13 | 6K] Summary: Meldrick Lewis ponders life between his birthday and the end of Crosetti's vacation....
    2. Secret Agent Man [PG | 6 K] Summary: Zach Felton finds out that sometimes, growing up is hard to do.
  • First Date
    1. He Said, She Said [PG-13 | 9 K] Summary: Kellerman and Cox try it with their clothes on.
  • Sofa of Truth The beauty of the episode "Stakeout" is that the actual apprehension of the criminal -- a hideous serial killer-rapist -- is the most anticlimatic part of the hour. The best time is spent with the detectives pairing off to sit shifts and watch. The conversation is riveting.
    1. Mike Kellerman
  • One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
    1. Three Shots [PG-13 | 13K] Summary: Three monologues over three drinks of choice {Spoilers: End Game, Deception and Forgive Us Our Tresspasses}
  • Post-Series
    1. Saving Face. [PG-13 | 195 K] It's as close as I've ever come to Mary Sue-ism, but someone once told me that this was their favorite Homicide fic ever. To each their own.
    2. This Seat Is Taken [pg-13 | 7K] Post-movie fic.

Etcetera:

"The catch-all page. Right now, it's got NCIS, Star Trek-reboot, and Justified"

Star Trek

  • Common Knowledge: Everybody knows Christopher Pike. [Completed 20 June 2009]
  • Determining the Equant: Starfleet Officer is more than just the keys to a spaceship. As Jim Kirk learns it for the first time, Christopher Pike gets some sharp reminders. [Completed 26 June 2009]
  • Shooting the Moon: Jim Kirk learns that it's hard to know what you're looking for when you don't realize it's missing. [Completed 5 July 2009]
  • Standard Operating Procedures: They weren't trouble magnets. It was simply a very strong affinity. Written for the TrekReverseBang challenge, featuring art by Ileliberte. [Completed 27 May 2010]
  • Mobius: The irony, as Chris saw it, was that everyone looked at Jim Kirk and saw his father when they really should have been seeing his mother. Written for the TrekReverseBang challenge, featuring art by Pentapus. [Completed 24 June 2010]

NCIS

  • Prodigal: Crossover with SGA and SG-1. Hollis Mann comes to NCIS headquarters after some marines break in to a secret facility on an Army base. It's not nearly as straightforward as that. [Completed 26 March 2009]
  • The Sorcerer's Apprentice: On the roadmap of his life, Tony's always been able to find the "You are here." Whether that's where he's supposed to be is something else. [Completed 15 August 2009]

Justified

Bad Apple Blues: Raylan's having one of those days where the crooks are strange, his colleagues are stranger, and his personal life gets dragged in through the back door. Sort of like every other day, actually. Completed December 2010 for the Yuletide 2010 challenge.

Three Times Raylan Givens Was Someone Else's Problem: Raylan versus Burn Notice (snippet), The Mentalist, and Hawaii Five-O.
