The Addams Family is a property originally created by cartoonist Charles Addams. The titular family is a satire of traditional depictions of the American nuclear family. The characters have been adapted into numerous TV series and movies over the years, usually titled simply The Addams Family. In fandom, some of the most popular versions are the 1991 movie and its 1993 sequel, Addams Family Values.

Wednesday Addams is a popular character for fanworks, usually her incarnation from the '91 and '93 movies, played by Christina Ricci, rather than the more mild character from the comics. Her popularity in fanworks further grew when she starred as the titular character in the 2022 Netflix live-action television series Wednesday.

Gomez and Morticia are also cited frequently as being one of media's most healthy couples, despite the family's love of the macabre.^{[citation needed]} Gomez/Morticia were the most popular ship for The Addams Family on AO3 prior to the release of Neflix's Wednesday, followed by Wednesday with Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice and with Joel, her love interest from Addams Family Values, however Wednesday/Enid has since become the most tagged ship.

Fluff is the most common genre of Addams Family fic. There are also a lot of crossovers, particularly adoption fic where Gomez and Morticia adopt characters from other texts or with other characters as members of the Addams family from the start.
