Talk:Clark Kent
I notice that Superman is a disambiguation page. I am tempted to redirect Superman to Clark Kent to have an overview of the character (ah, but who is the alter ego? :-D) but for the link to the
Superman (Emergency! fanzine) which does not appear to be Supes-related. Would perhaps require renaming of Superman to Superman (disambiguation) and putting an otheruses at the top of Clark Kent. Thoughts? See also Talk:Superman. Nigeltde 15:17, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

- This page should probably be organized as a disambiguation page linking to the various character pages for him, such as Smallville/Clark_Kent. According to the current policy, characters are not top-level pages, but subpages for individual fandoms.
- Also, "Superman" probably shouldn't be a redirect because it refers to several different things (the character, the comic, the fanzine); that is why it was a disambiguation page.--Æthel 17:28, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Though Spock redirects to Star Trek/Spock with just a line for the zine, because the main meaning is the character. Similarly I think that the character is the main meaning for Superman. But I agree that Superman (and by extension Clark Kent) articles are complicated by the multiple sources, which the current system is easily set up to handle, as like you say, there is no one Superman page for the character. The character subpage structure also caused trouble for "Hercules" btw, which in articles frequently is used as short to mean the fandom Hercules: The Legendary Journeys but redirects to Hercules: The Legendary Journeys/Hercules--Ratcreature 18:41, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that Superman works probably best as a disambiguation page, but that doesn't mean a general character page wouldn't be a good idea too. I find the content of this page useful and the page could link to Clark Kent subpages on other articles. The idea of having a page for Clark Kent doesn't seem so far away from what the Robin Hood page does.--Doro 21:49, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, it makes sense to me now! But then the same holds true for the Superman page; it seems unbalanced to have one be a disambig and the other a full page, although we don't need two overview pages since it's the same character. What about creating a separate overview-type page, like Superman (Character)? As I understand it, "Clark Kent" is his cover story, and "Superman" is his true self. Sort of.--Æthel 01:32, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- I did check in Fanlore:Editorial Procedures but I suppose I should have kept the Sitemap more in mind! I felt a short character overview with links to character subpages in other properties would be useful and didn't want Superman to duplicate the information, and I had seen quite a few pages with top links to fanzines. If an overview character page is appropriate, perhaps this page should be moved to DC Comics/Clark Kent (or Superman) to keep with policy. --Nigeltde 01:58, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree that Clark Kent is some sort of cover. It's not a cover story, he has parents, a wife, a job he loves, he is called Clark by other superheroes who know his RL identity... and his Kryptonian birth name/identity is Kal-El, if anything "Superman" is a costumed public facade. I mean, obviously his identity issues are complicated, and that is even leaving out the storylines when he is split in two and stuff.--Ratcreature 02:00, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I don't really subscribe to the Kill Bill interpretation but maybe it just depends on what people are more likely to search for? I would still go with CK though considering the pervasiveness of L&C and Smallville fandom which are Clark-focussed. --Nigeltde 02:13, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Separate Pages
Are we really planning to have separate pages for each incarnation of Clark Kent? Like Clark Kent (DCEU), Clark Kent (Superman movies), etc. I am not against it per se, but it is something we have done for some comics characters but not others, for example we have three Oliver Queen pages (Oliver Queen (Smallville), Oliver Queen (Arrow)), but all the Batman characters have only one page each, same with almost all the Marvel characters. I do realize that some adaptations greatly change the character, but I guess I would just like a little clarity on when to create separate pages and when to not -- Kingstoken (talk) 15:19, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
