Saichi Sugimoto, aka Sugimoto the Immortal or Immortal Sugimoto, is the co-protagonist of the manga Golden Kamuy along with Asirpa. Although Sugimoto and Asirpa are more popular with readers, Hyakunosuke Ogata surpasses them in popularity within Fannish circles such as Pixiv and Twitter's Golden Kamuy communities.
Sugimoto survived the Ainu gold hunt and is last seen visiting Asirpa's kotan three years after the gold hunt ended.

Sugimoto x Ogata is his most popular pairing, (coupling in Japanese-speaking GK fandom.) It pairs him with his rival Hyakunosuke Ogata. In terms of fanac, Ogata x Sugimoto is the most popular pairing in the entirety of Golden Kamuy fandom, both English and Japanese-speaking.
Shiraishi x Sugimoto is his second-most popular pairing. It couples him with his ally/friend Yoshitake Shiraishi.
Kikuta x Sugimoto is also popular. This pairs him with Mokutarou Kikuta, who helped Sugimoto woo the minor character Kaeko Kaneko during the Tokyo Love Story Arc so Yuusaku Hanazawa wouldn't be made to. Most fanworks for his pairing take place during this timeframe.
