Star Trek America 1980 took place in New York City August 30-Sepetmber 1, 1980 at the New York Statler Hotel.
The guests of honor were getting meager, and the con days did not fall on a weekend, signifying a slow-down of this con series.

Con Reports
As it says above, the Tristar cons were slowing down. A handful of us teens were just sitting around bored one evening. I taped together a bunch of flyers (just to use the backs as one large blank white poster.) In large letters, I wrote, “V’GER SIGNALS JOHN TOWNSLEY: IS THERE NOTHING MORE?” I hung this on the wall across from the main con desk. People went to town adding their disappointment with, “ Yawn Con ‘80”, “Star Trek Space Exploit- I mean, Space Expo”, “The Townsley Adventure has just ended”, etc.
