1991 Bio
From a much longer self-description in The LOC Connection #29:
... it was Star Trek and its characters that helped ne to regain my balance. From watching the old episodes to writing stories (more like a soap opera saga) in my head, I progressed to writing then. At this time, I didn't know that K/S existed. My springboard for that first mental story was "The Procrustean Petard." Never mind that it will never see the light of day, or that it was full of sap, talky, and frequently erring in terms of characterization. It was a life saver and a beginning.

Star Trek and K/S mean a great many things to me, all of them good. It's a concept that champions excellence, universality, individual achievement, and the importance of daring to dream. It's a network of people who are, with a few rare exceptions, caring, supportive, and who value the sane things I do, while allowing me to be myself. And it's a mindset that at times can be more real than the "real" world, acknowledging the potential of humanity to step outside its traditional borders and embrace the concept of a peaceful world community.
When I attended ny first convention, it was like a magnet to me. Soon, I was going to as many as I could. After several forays into New York City, I discovered zines. The lady who sold then also had brought her personal library to the convention so that others could read out-of-print zines. Through her I discovered CONTACT. I began to look for zines that interested me but bought few. For some reason or other, most of then didn't appeal to me. Then I found some that did. When I was told about the K/S nature of the stories, I was flabbergasted that others had seen the characters the same way that I did. Until that time, I had thought I was a little strange for even imagining such a thing.
Now, although I don't advertise my K/S writing and interest to the world at large, I know I'm not the only one. Once I read Beverly Sutherland's "Fantasies," I was hooked. I now possess one of the most comprehensive, although still incomplete, K/S libraries around. And I still buy every new one I can get my hands on.
Recently I've been asked to be a co-editor of a zine. This is both the culmination of many steps taken in the past and another step forward. Several years ago, someone who has since become a very dear friend read nine pages of a story and told me to keep writing. Without that encouragement, I might never have had the courage to continue to try to put my words on paper, to risk my ideas and myself in the public arena. Without the wonderful support and constructive criticism I've received since, I night never have grown as a writer, with ail the accompanying agonies and joys that endeavor entails. To Trek and all of you who have supported and encouraged me, I feel a deep and enduring gratitude. To those of you who have yet to try your wings but ache to do so, my advice is to write and keep writing. It's well worth the effort.
