Reactions and Reviews
1991
This was a sensuous story, in every sense of the word. It is almost entirely descriptions of sensations, sensual experiences. It is very well done, allowing the reader to "feel" along with Kirk. [1]
I was very reluctantly reaching the conclusion that I was tiring of stories whose only plot was getting them sexually activated and into a sex scene, when along comes a writer who can do just that and make me love it![2]
Good set up of atmosphere in the beginning. I enjoyed the conversation leading up to the sex more than the sex itself, as the talk was more heart warming than their physical activities. And I think such activities when on a bit too long for such a short story.
I particularly liked Kirk's thought that, "I want to protect him even against myself." That's love![3]
This is is favorite story in the zine. It's very realistic and believable. It's quite nicely worded and psychologically sound. Some parts I especially liked were Kirk's internal comment. "I want to protect him even against myself," he realized with surprise.' and "The timid look of fascination in Spock's eyes became one of appraisal, and Kirk caught the change." I especially liked it when Kirk made his move and then retreated. My only complaint is the ending. I turned the page and gasped to find the story was over. I wanted it to continue. Maybe the writer will in a future M/A???? Please.
The Marilyn Cole picture on page 80 of Spock and Kirk at the baths is impressive. It's my favorite of the zine. It's sexy, yet not. Spock is especially well drawn in this. The picture fits the story very well. [4]
