Morosexual, from "moron" and "sexual", is a term used to describe someone who is sexually attracted to people who have a low level of intelligence. It is the opposite of sapiosexual, a term used to describe someone who is attracted to people of high intelligence.

In fandom, characters are often jokingly (or not-so-jokingly) described as "morosexual" if the object of their affection(s) is extremely dense and/or lacks self-awareness. It can be a specific headcanon (e.g. "I headcanon Reddie with morosexual!Eddie) or a general character trait that the fan believes is canon (e.g. "I fully believe that Lan Wangji is attracted to Wei Wuxian because he is morosexual").

In ships with one or more morosexual character(s), the object of their affections is often characterised as being blind to romantic declarations that would be obvious to anyone else, which often gives rise to tropes like pining and perceived unrequited love. It is possible for both (or all) members of the ship to be morosexual - i.e. they are attracted to a lack of intelligence, and also lack intelligence themselves.

The object of a morosexual person's affections is often referred to as a "chaotic dumbass".

The Morosexual Meme

Morosexuality is also the subject of a popular fandom meme. It usually appears in the form of a script, or as a series of images (either screencaps with captions or a fancomic) with the following dialogue:

Character A: I'm proud to identify as morosexual. I'm attracted to dumbasses and dumbasses exclusively.

(Sometimes followed by): [A girl/A guy/Character B/Someone] once asked me [a question to which the answer is self-evident] and now I dream of kissing [him/her/them] under the moonlight.
Character B: [makes a very stupid statement or asks a stupid question]

Character A, already taking off their clothes: [Character B], you're so (fucking) stupid.

The meme may have originated from a Tumblr post by discoursethot, which contained the following two text posts:

"I'm proud to identify as morosexual. I'm attracted to dumbasses and dumbasses exclusively. A guy asked me what the Spanish word for tortilla was once and now I dream of kissing him under the moonlight."

"this same idiot: what kind of animal is the pink panther

me, already taking off my clothes: benjamin you're so fucking stupid"

Because of this, the phrases "what the Spanish word for tortilla was once" and "What kind of animal is the pink panther?" frequently feature in fannish variations of the meme, although they are often substituted for a fandom- or character-appropriate phrase.
