Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated web series created by VivziePop that began as a single pilot episode in 2019 on YouTube, before being picked up as a full series by indie production company A24. Season 1 finally began airing January 2024, giving the fandom almost five years to grow and develop before getting a full series.

Seemingly from the beginning the show was marred by controversies, especially in regards to VivziePop herself, as well as, in contrast, supported for its queer representation.

Helluva Boss is a spin-off to the series.
