Bill Weasley is a minor character in the Harry Potter novels.

Bill is the oldest of Molly and Arthur Weasley's seven children. His younger siblings are Charlie, Percy, twins Fred and George, Ron and Ginny. He is married to Fleur Delacour. He works as a cursebreaker and works for Gringotts Bank.

During a patrol at Hogwarts, when a bunch of Death Eaters broke into the school, Bill was injured by Fenrir Greyback, a werewolf. Although Greyback was not transformed at the time, the wounds were still contaminated making Bill develop a liking for very rare steaks.[1]

Some fans had suspected that Bill's given name might me "Bilius" (after his uncle), but it was confirmed in Deathly Hallows that Bill is indeed short for "William".

Bill is a relatively popular character in fanworks, particularly in relation to his relatively limited role in canon. Works written before Half-Blood Prince tend to focus on his cursebreaking career, sometimes having him work with Aurors.

A lot of fics that were written after the publication of HBP focus on Bill's attack from Fenrir Greyback, usually to increase his werewolf traits/characteristics, such as the need for a mate or getting antsy during and around the full moon. The attack also increased the popularity of the Bill/Remus pairing, due to Remus being a werewolf on the side of the Order.
