Fleur Delacour is a Harry Potter character first introduced as the Beauxbatons champion for the Triwizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire. She is part Veela, and thus has supernatural beauty and powers of attraction.[1]

During the Three-Year Summer, it was often speculated that Fleur would be joining the Hogwarts staff in the next book, either as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher or in some other capacity. This was based on her mentioning at the end of Goblet of Fire that she would be staying in Britain for a while to improve her English. Furthermore, Rowling had already mentioned that the next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher would be female, which seemed to lend credence to the theory that it would be Fleur. When Order of the Phoenix came out, it was revealed that the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was a new character, Dolores Umbridge, and Fleur's new British job was for Gringotts instead of Hogwarts.

Fleur was not generally well-liked until the publication of Half-Blood Prince.[2] When it was revealed in Order of the Phoenix that she had begun dating Bill Weasley, some fan writers wrote her as a spy for Voldemort (often in order to pair Bill with another character, such as Tonks).

In fanfiction, Fleur is most often paired with Bill, whom she marries in canon. She is also sometimes paired with fellow Triwizard champions Cedric Diggory, Viktor Krum, or Harry Potter. Fleur is also well represented in a variety of femslash pairings, with Fleur/Tonks and Hermione/Fleur being some of the more popular pairings in the Harry Potter femslash categories.

As one of only three named characters known to have attended or be attending Beauxbatons in France (the other two being the Headmistress Madame Maxime and Fleur's younger sister, Gabrielle Delacour), Fleur is often present in francophone fanworks.
