Ben Church was a fanfiction writer active in a number of fandoms during the 1990s and 2000s. He was noted for his enthusiasm and prolific production in a number of genres, as well as his love of crossovers. He needed to utilise his spellcheck more often and had a tendency to misspell important things like titles and fandom names, which resulted in public proofreading on-list from some of the older writers[1][2]. Like many young writers, his first stories included an Original Character who was something of a Mary Sue - Hotshot (and his friends/team) showed up in a number of places, including the first Subreality Cafe round robin "A Cold Dash of (Sub)Reality" started by Kielle and Tapestry; and Ben himself wrote an unofficial sequel to Devil's Due where Hotshot and team got revenge on the Marauders.
Ben was also an avid tabletop gamer and as a result did a lot of collaboration. His frequent "partners" in crime were Jesse Willey, Twist (who posted to ACFF for him when he was unable to access the group and vice versa), and Aaron Thall. He also posted a Rifts story where Johnny the Homicidal Maniac appeared, based on a RL TTRPG campaign he was playing.
Ben's last post to ACFF was in 2003 where he posted his thoughts on how the third X-Men movie might go.[3]
