Valerie Jones is a het fanfiction author who was active in the late 1990s through the 2000s. Her X-Men fanfiction focused on Gambit and Rogue. Her JAG fanfiction focused on Harm/Mac.
In Valerie's own words from ACFF:
I grew up reading SF/fantasy because my mother read the Dragonsinger/Dragonsong (Anne McCaffrey) books to me for my bedtime stories, one chapter at a time. I was always into superheroes, though I didn't discover comics until I was an adult, but I loved "Speed Racer," "Battle Of The Planets," and "Thundarr The Barbarian" (as opposed to Smurfs, which my best friend was way into). I discovered the X-Men, believe it or not, because of the cartoon. I was really impressed with the early X-Men:TAS, and decided to collect the comics. Needless to say, I got hooked fast. That was about three years ago.I've been writing since about the sixth grade, and have taken several creative writing classes in high school and college. I've published one short story in an online 'zine called Quanta. The story is called "Altered." I'll post it if anyone is interested.
"Betrayal" is my only fanfic work so far. I just got started into all this, and the story just sort of expanded on me. I think it probably qualifies as a novella rather than a short story. Gambit is my favorite character (no surprise there!). I also like Bishop and Jean particularly, though I hesitate to write about Jean because I don't know so much of her early experiences. I only came in around UXM 280.

Notable Works
- The Betrayal Arc (X-Men)- When Bishop first joined the X-Men, he warned them that they would be betrayed by one of their own. He was right, but that's only the beginning of the story.
- "Strange Encounter" (The X-Files/X-Men crossover case fic) - When a strange woman falls out of the sky without being harmed, Mulder and Scully are sent to investigate.
- "Faith and Dreams" (The X-Files/X-Men crossover case fic) - Sequel to Strange Encounter. Dana Scully never really expected to see the mutants again. But when tragedy strikes, Dana finds herself embroiled in an alien conspiracy that threatens not only her world but the X-Men's as well.
- Two Thieves series with Lori McDonald (X-Men).
- "Thick As Thieves" - When Bobby falls in love with a thief woman, he has to go to a man he hates for help to get her... Gambit.
- "Blind Sight" - When Operation: Zero Tolerance turns into a full-fledged mutant hunt, Remy must use all of his resources to keep the X Men safe while they search for a way to bring Bastion down.
- "Sail Away" (JAG) - Harm and Mac go undercover on the reality t.v. show "Temptation Cruise II". It's not as silly as it sounds :-)
- "What's Past Is Prologue" written with AeroGirl (JAG) - When a critical figure from Harm's past resurfaces, he is faced with some difficult realizations... and a choice.

*Urgent!!!* I just found out that Valerie Jones, the legendary X-Men fanfic writer, has decided that she is NO LONGER GOING TO BE UPDATING HER X-MEN FAN FICTION! (If you're an X-Men fan, and a Gambit fan in particular, and you haven't read her stuff, I entreat you to take a gander - she's under my favorite authors.) I for one am very upset about this. She's such an amazing writer, and to just leave such great stories hanging like that, to me, is just horrible. So if anyone has a petition going, please let me know, I'd love to sign it.
