Fandom
Fandom for the series goes back to 2014, at least four years before the show actually aired. This is due to the fact that Titans (also titled Blackbirds at the time) was announced to be an upcoming TNT live-action television series to be focused on the Teen Titans characters, featuring Nightwing, Barbara Gordon, Hawk, Dove, Raven, and Starfire, however it was canceled in early 2016 but Geoff Johns said they have "plans" for it[1]. Fandom around the "upcoming" TNT show appeared almost immediately after the announcement in 2014. It was focused mainly on Tumblr with fancasts, fan posters, confessions, and opinions on the characters list. Fans were ultimately disappointed with the cancelation with the series.
However, the series did eventually find a home in 2017 on the DC streaming digital service called DC Universe. Much excitement around the announcement and later casting news lead the TT fans back. Anna Diop, the actress cast as Starfire, as well as her costume was met with derogatory and racist comments, leading to Ms. Diop deleting her social media due to harassment. The DCU series main character was changed from Barbara Gordon to Beast Boy, the series also made Hawk and Dove secondary characters. There was a positive response to Ryan Potter's casting as Beast Boy - Potter had previously petitioned to play Tim Drake and teased negotiations for a role.
The series fandom is overall fairly small, but with a devoted following holding a presence on eg, Tumblr. As of November 2019, there are 489 works on AO3, which has seen a significant increase with the second season, from 295 only 3 months prior.[2] As of August 2019, there are 34 works on FFN. Tumblr remains a popular site for the fandom with gifs, fanworks and fan reactions. YouTube has various fanvids dedicated to the main characters.
Shipping
The main ship of the fandom is Kory/Dick. Dick's other canon het ship from is Dawn/Dick, although it is only shown in retrospect. There isn't really flamewars between the two ships. Kory/Dick shippers are adamant that there is only one ship for Dick Grayson of his two canon het ships, while there aren't that many vocal and active Dawn/Dick fans. Dick Grayson & Rachel Roth is more popular than the Dick/Raven pairing due to the age difference in the canon. With the second season, the show's popularity increased and a lot of new characters were added, leading to many more pairings joining the fandom such as Donna/Kory, Donna/Dawn, Kori/Dawn, Donna/Garth and Hank/Dick, Rose/Jason, Gar/Conner and Conner/Jason.
