The Golden Trio, sometimes simply referred to as The Trio or Golden Trio, is a popular fannish name given to the three best friends and Gryffindor students at the Hogwarts School, being them Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Its rival counterpart would be The Silver Trio.
However other fandoms also use the term "Golden Trio" to refer to specific groups of three characters, either by reference to the HP trio or arising independently from factors within the fandom. See this list (incomplete) for the term's usage in other fandoms.
