Page Guidelines
Because of the sheer number and variance of Dan and Phil pages, we should clearly delineate between Dan and Phil, Phandom (YouTube RPF), and Phan (pairing). We've crafted a general guideline for editing and knowing what goes on these related pages. These guidelines are not set in stone and are to help, not hinder. As things are added, we may need to adjust them to better reflect the living nature of the wiki itself. If you have any questions or additions, please feel free to bring them up on the YouTube Project talk page. Current page guidelines:
- If you add a new Phan-related page, please add it to Category:Dan and Phil.
Things that should go on Dan and Phil:
- Information on specifically "Dan and Phil", the branded content:
Things that should go on Phandom (YouTube RPF):
- Canon history of Dan & Phil from their meeting and early collaboration, with the phandom that formed around their friendship and content
- gen Phil & Dan fandom history; people who consider themselves "phans" or "phannies" but not (or not entirely) shippers
Things that should go on the Phan (pairing) page:
- History of Phan shipping & tinhatting
- Information regarding Phan-shippers
- links to Phan groups/discussions/directories/etc.
- Phan (Dan/Phil) fic

Phan vs Phandom
The distinction between this and Phan is kind of hazy. Would it be possible to turn this into a Fantastic Foursome page, with Phandom as a sub-heading? If nothing else, there should be some sort of delineation between what ends up here and what ends up on Phan. --Punkpixieprince (talk)
- It will also need disambiguation/"You might be looking for..." hatnotes for Phantom of the Opera/Phan (glossary term) and Danny Phantom both of which use or have used "phandom". Example post talking about this here: [1] - Hoopla (talk) 05:35, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's been a couple months so I'm adding the attention gardeners note! I think that the Phandom page needs to be a disambiguation with:
- Phan (glossary term) (Phantom of the Opera)
- Phandom (YouTube RPF) and Phan (pairing)
- Phandom as in Danny Phantom
- It just seems weird, anyway, that the Phandom page, with no disambiguation, is for YouTube RPF. Not that this usage of "phandom" is, like, less legit than the Phantom of the Opera usage, but I think letting one usage of the word "phandom" have the disambiguation page will lead to confusion in the future. Plus, Nonnie's Trick or Treat diambig page has filled me with joy and passion for disambigs. - Hoopla (talk) 17:35, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
- Fixed! I added Phantom of the Opera, Danny Phantom, and this page to the Phandom disambig, since the Phan disambig already has Phan (pairing) and Phan (glossary term). But for clarity and so everything is easier to parse, I added links to both disambig pages to all five pages' hatnotes. Hope this helps! --Punkpixieprince (talk) 04:04, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
