Mspec Fandom

Would it be possible to transfer this info to the Mspec Fandom page at all (a page I haven't actually created yet mind XD. I was going to call it 'Multisexuality and Fandom' and then thought it might alienate bi/panromantics) and then redirect this to that page? I only say that as it allows all of the multisexual and multiromantic identities (bisexuality, pansexuality, polysexuality etc) to be put onto the same page. Or thinking about it, I could always put an internal link on the Mspec Fandom page to this one, so anything specific to bisexuality can be put here, and anything pertaining to the wider mspec community can go on the other page? OfMonstersAndWerewolves (talk) 08:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Given the level of detail on this page already I think it does make sense to have individual pages for things like bisexuality, pansexuality etc. if we have the content for them, otherwise the Mspec fandom page may get quite unwieldy.
Also, as a bi person I have literally just now learned the term Mspec, so there you go xD --enchantedsleeper (talk) 19:24, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
I understand the wish to consolidate articles but I think this proposal could potentially open a can of worms. It seems prudent to me to have articles on both bisexuality and pansexuality so that neither feels that their identity is being invalidated (which, sadly, is a thing that happens). Expanding Controversies Section

As someone else said in (I believe) the Wish List, the "Biphobia in Fandom" section definitely needs expanding; it's a huge issue. I also think it'd be worthwhile to put a section either under Controversies or elsewhere in the article about the trickiness of staking a claim on a character as canonical bisexual representation, given the facts that 1) so few fictional characters ever let the word "bisexual" pass their lips and 2) in order to "represent" bisexuality without saying the word or an equivalent out loud a character needs to have had multiple romantic/sexual interests of different genders, which many characters just don't. (And just demonstrating that someone has dated people of different genders doesn't necessarily unambiguously establish bisexuality anyway - many a "no she's gay and didn't know it yet" "no she's bi" battle has been waged over this.) -- Malcontent (talk) 20:07, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

While revealing a character's romantic history can more clearly establish bisexuality, it can also propagate biphobic stereotypes in the process e.g. bi folks being hypersexual, promiscuous, unfaithful, etc. Or, if their current relationship is with someone of a different gender than past relationships, it can imply they went through a "phase" before realizing they are monosexual. Basically, it's tricky to establish bisexuality in a way that's unambiguous, doesn't fall into problematic representation, and doesn't come across as an afterthought.
Also wondering if this article should cover bi-related tropes like Disaster Bi and Bisexual Lighting. Night Rain (talk) 20:41, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Covering bi-related tropes on this page makes sense to me! -- Malcontent (talk) 22:54, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

general expansion

A while ago I compiled a list of articles potentially relevant to this page, so here are the ones not yet discussed here:

Off I go to find more pages created since when I compiled these.

Also, a relevant website I came across and have yet to make a page for:

Some meta listed elsewhere but lacking pages:

I am sure I missed some things. Sobqjmv sphinx (talk) 19:06, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
