Description from Spirit's Heavens:
Siubhan's Slash Fiction - author of the legendary 'Left Hand of Madness' series, but also contains some of the most touching and humourous C/P and other Star Trek fiction I've read. Also, check out her Buffy slash story. Got me hooked! (I apologise to Siubhan for previously spelling her name incorrectly.)[2]

Voyager Stories: Gritty
Good Enough for Now (5K) - PG [Personal Archive]
My take on Paris/Torres based on what I've seen on the screen. Have you ever heard Tom say "I love you" to B'Elanna? I haven't. Originally printed in the RanDoM Flight club zine A RanDoM Zine #2. If you're a fan of P/T, you'll hate this. (6/98)
What Is Lost - PG-13 (24K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
During "Future's End," Tom witnesses two men holding hands. But Human men don't do that, do they? Or is it something that just doesn't happen anymore? As seen in Now Voyager. (4/98)
Reflections - PG (5K) [Personal Archive]
Tom and Chakotay having a late-night talk in the messhall about how sometimes, it's hard to maintain hope against all the odds. From the RanDoM Flight 1997 membership handbook. (10/97)
Penance - PG-13 (34K) [Personal Archive]
Once again available on the Internet, and still available in the zine We'll Always Have Paris by Unicorn Press. Written before "Basics, Part 2" aired, so it's an alternate take on Seska's pregnancy. Voyager comes across the wreckage of Cullah's ship, and Chakotay investigates it for clues on his son's well being. When a Talaxian distress call interrupts the investigation, Chakotay is left behind with Tom, a shuttle, and a dangerous allergic reaction that exposes his mile-wide stubborn streak. (6/96)
Philanthropy - PG-13 (41K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]

For more gritty stories, see the Relationship Stories section immediately following this one. Many of the stories are adult stories that contain sex rather than being stories about sex.
Voyager Stories: Relationship
Most of these stories contain sexual encounters between adults.
Chakotay/Paris
My quintessential Chakotay/Paris story has to be The Left Hand of Madness, but here are some more.
A Cat Always Lands on His Feet - NC-17 (50K) [Personal Archive]
My first foray into fuzzy fandom. Chakotay and Tom go on an away mission that involves them being stuck on a planet for five days until the next environmental window opens up, but then this little cat bites Tom and it all starts going horribly wrong (and really weird--you have been warned). (9/97)
When You Were Mine - PG-13 (103K) [Personal Archive]
Tom and Chakotay are happily married and living the perfect life together on a small farm. Then Voyager rescues them and tells them that those memories were all implanted and that only the past three weeks were real. As their true memories return, their relationship is sorely tested. Rated PG-13 for adult situations and language; however, there is absolutely no sex. (6/97).
Expectations - NC-17 (62K) [Personal Archive]
Currently available in Beyond the Final Frontier 3, a zine by Unicorn Press. A Chakotay/Paris hurt/comfort story where Tom gets to be the strong one for a change. (12/96)
The Adventures of Helm Boy, and His Sidekick Commander Chuckles - R (14K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
Once again available on the Internet. Still available in Beyond the Final Frontier 2 by Unicorn Press. Q and Q play Cupid for Tom and Chakotay. Set after "Q and Gray". Terribly silly. (12/96)
Pillow Talk - PG-13 (3K) [Personal Archive]
Once again available on the Internet. Still available in Beyond the Final Frontier 2 by Unicorn Press. Paris and Chakotay role-playing Xena and Gabrielle in bed. All the smut's off camera. Short and bizarre. (7/96)
Inhibitions - NC-17 (14K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
Once again available on the Internet. Still available in Beyond the Final Frontier 2 by Unicorn Press. Pointless sex romp between Paris and Chakotay, and Torres and Henley. (7/96)
Hysteresis - NC-17 (21K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
Once again available on the Internet. Still available in Beyond the Final Frontier 2 by Unicorn Press. A sequel to Inhibitions, only much sillier (12/96).
Parallel Lines -NC-17 (52K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
Once again available on the Internet, and still available in Beyond the Final Frontier by Unicorn Press. Chakotay is tossed into an alternate universe where his Maquis ship and Voyager are not working together and he is Tom Paris's lover. (5/96)
Parallel Lines 2 - NC-17 (43K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
Once again available on the Internet, and still available in Beyond the Final Frontier by Unicorn Press. Back in his own universe, Chakotay is briefly visited by the alternate universe Tom, then initiates a relationship with "our" Tom. (6/96)

Torres/Henley
I don't have any stories that are solely Torres/Henley, but they crop up in many of my other stories. Check out Left Hand 3 & 4, Inhibitions, and Hysteresis in the Chakotay/Paris section. They also crop up from time to time in the funny stories.
Miscellaneous Combinations
"Whatever happens, I'm with you" - NC-17 (7K) [Personal Archive]
A different take on the turbolift scene in "Worst Case Scenario". No redeeming social value whatsoever. Short, slashy, and smutty. First you get C/P, then C/P/S. (5/97)
Hands On - NC-17 (14K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
A Chakotay/Paris/Kim story that starts with a circle jerk and gets worse from there (12/96)
Hands On 2 - NC-17 (8K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
"The Preparation of Harry" - even less redeeming social value than the first (1/97).
Hands On 3 - NC-17 (10K) [A.S.C. Main Archive] [Trekfic Archive]
"Harry Bites Off More Than He Can Chew" - I challenge you to find any redeeming social value in this one! (1/97)

I Am Chakotay's Repressed Bisexuality - R (3K) [Personal Archive]
A first person narrative account. Short and weird, just like the above. (12/96)

The Virgin Tree (12K) - NC-17 [Personal Archive]
A Buffy: The Vampire Slayer story. Xander is scheduled for a virgin sacrifice (not again!) and only Angel can save him... (11/97)

The world's first Scully/Xena crossover sex story (I hope). It takes place on Voyager's holodeck as Tom and Harry watch. (2/97)
Voyager Voyeurs (16K)- NC-17 [Personal Archive]
A sequel to Crossover Voyeurs (although you don't need to read it first to understand this). A few bored Voyagers decide to run the movie The Mask of Zorro on the holodeck, only with a few modifications to the swordfighting between Alejandro Murrieta (Young Zorro) and Captain Harrison Love. Fairly farsical, with no redeeming social values whatsoever, and makes no sense if you haven't seen the movie. (8/98)

A Maul/Obi-Wan smutfest. No plot whatsoever, just anonymous, consensual sex. (4/00)

Think you've read bad Maul/Obi-Wan slash? Think again. A parody of bad M/O I've seen on the Web. (6/00)

Jean Grey gets called to the hospital to help them deal with an injured and under arrest Toad. (8/00)

A Toad and a Wolverine Walk into a Bar Again - NC-17 (13 KB)
A sequel to the above. Oy. (10/00)
Badfic
All of the following can be found at Bad Fanfic! No Biscuit! Before you go, a little explanation is in order. "Bad Fanfic! No Biscuit!" is a site where authors get together and write deliberately bad fanfic to showcase the worst aspects of fanfic writing. It's our way of saying, "Hey, we don't like it when authors do X," without actually singling out specific authors for ridicule. All stories are written in character, as it were, and the badfic elements are pointed out in footnotes.
Savage Luv - NC-17
Amazingly terrible Maul/Obi-Wan. Oh man, it's bad. And it has pictures! (6/00)

My Chocolate Starfish - PG-13
Real people fic meets Mary Sue meets irrational anger for the wife of a star, starring Wes Borland and Angel. (1/01)
The One - PG
A story about the perils of songfic. Scully sings Limp Bizkit to Doggett. (1/01)

Siubhan's Fanfic Recommendations
Maul/Obi-Wan
This is a damned hard genre to write in, and write in well. How do you write about these two men without one of them betraying their Order, or more importantly, their character? The most straightforward way is to write rape, but that's not a really satisfying read if that's all there is to the story. Here are some stories that I think do well, either throughout or in parts. I wish I had a list comprised totally of glowing recommendations, but as I said, this is a damned difficult genre, and not a lot of authors have tried.
Hell (Sith Academy Offshoot), by Jedimom Sith Academy (Go to Non-Canon pages)
Okay, I'm sure part of my love for this series comes from the simple fact that it's based on the Sith Academy, but in all honesty, when I read the first installment, I had chills for days. This works, period, end of story.
Isolation. A howling, desolate loneliness. Fear, the fear of a hunted animal that can no longer hear the twig snap under the predator's paw, or see the chasm yawning in its path. A dusty, echoing emptiness that was once alive with the fire of lust, of desire, home to a thousand exquisite sensations that would never again be possible. Helpless rage, shame, resentment, weakness, dependency, self-loathing. Worst of all, the knowledge that Sidious could sense all this, was relishing it, feeding on it, wallowing in it. And the desperate, panicked dread that Obi-Wan might sense it too.
Jedimom somehow manages to have the characters fully reconcile with both canon and the Sith Academy, which is no easy task! I recommend this highly. It probably makes more sense if you're familiar with the Sith Academy, but I suspect it's enjoyable on its own as well.
There used to be an entire series of stories that followed this one available on her Web page, but too many underaged readers sent her feedback that included their ages, and she got squicked and pulled it down. Thanks a lot, kids!
The Chosen Series, by Brenda Antrim Brenda Antrim's Fan Fiction Archive
This is an angst-heavy series that isn't for the faint of heart. And by angst, I don't mean Leo de Caprio-style angst, I mean Trent Reznor-style angst. Maul and Obi-Wan only share airspace in the first and last installments, but in between, you get to watch Obi-Wan take metaphorical razors to the wrists of his soul. And why wouldn't he? Part one has him getting raped twice. If this is your cup of tea, then I encourage you to read it. If you can't read stories with rape, then this isn't for you. And Maul stays wonderfully in character throughout. I didn't ever need to suspend my disbelief in his scenes.
Staring down at the man on his knees amidst the blood and gore from the dead courtiers, Maul slowly lowered his hands to his belt. There was a certain appeal to the idea. The Jedi was attractive, in a clean, long-limbed, oddly innocent sort of way. Debauching innocence always appealed.
The shaggy head lifted, and the molten blue eyes stared up at him. He was caught. Light and Dark, strength chained, anguish tamped down to sear the soul to slag. The very perversity of the coupling sang to him, the closest he could get to extinguishing the Light without allowing that final mercy.
Me Caes Bien, by Quiara Quiara's Home Page, SWAL
An interesting Alternate Universe story about Maul seducing Obi-Wan to the Dark Side. Fair warning: Obi-Wan is totally out of character throughout, so be prepared. Also, there is some suspension of disbelief required in spots when Maul admits his love for Kenobi, but those moments are rare. It does contain Obi-Torture, but probably not to any degree that it would seriously disturb the faint of heart. There's also some snips of fairly hot sexual tension, then hot sex, between the two of them, so that's a plus! Not the greatest of stories, and it would benefit from an editor, but worth checking out.
Eventually, Maul makes an entrance. He does it impressively, clad in a pair of pants made out of some sort of nearly liquid plastic in matte black and a matching shirt. One of the dancers stops to look at him and whistles. Obi-Wan represses the desire to glare, and instead beckons to Maul. "Nice to see you." He has hardly said the words before his head is grabbed unceremoniously, along with his ass, and he's being well and truly kissed. The memory doesn't live up to the real thing, Obi-Wan notices. The desire starts at his groin and moves steadily outward from there.
Knight Moves, by Iaga Muse of Fire, Maul Fanfiction & Slash Archive
I recommend the beginnings of this story, but don't like how it ends. The basic premise is that it was a clone of Maul that killed Qui-Gon and was killed by Obi-Wan on Naboo, and the real Maul was watching the battle from a distance. As he watched, he made the decision to renounce the Dark Side and join the Jedi. The Jedi Council decides to allow him in, and makes Obi-Wan train him. Maul's development in the first few installments is wonderfully compelling writing.
Between the events of Naboo and my Master's attempted murder, I realized many things. I escaped with my life, barely, and when I had recovered enough, I arranged for rumors of my death to reach my Master. I severed our Master-Apprentice bond. Not only would this corroborate the story of my "death," but I no longer wish to have any tie to him.
I am no longer of the Dark. I am not yet of the Light. I do not know what I am. I only know that I belong here.
But eventually, his character becomes washed out and unrecognizable. And Obi-Wan is a petulant brat throughout. Also, as the story progresses, it relies more and more on romance novel cliche--false impediments to their relationship that could be solved with an honest 10 minute discussion between adults. So I highly recommend that you read this story for the beginning parts, but be forewarned that the end is disappointing.
Sidious/Maul
Of all the Maul pairings, I find this the most believable. If Maul is going to lower his guard for anybody, it's going to be Sidious and no one else. A few good short stories are:
Always Two, by Lisa and Joleymouse Sidious-Palpatine Fan Fic Archive
Short, sweet, and amazing. To me, this will always be the quintessential S/M story.
Yes, this was love. The rest of those fools could keep their trinkets, their songs, their flourishes of so-called romance. Maul knew, as few did, that love came only when one gave himself, body and soul, completely into the possession of another.
This was the first S/M story I read, and I'm glad of it. Sidious does nothing for me, so if I'd started with anything else, I probably would never have read another S/M again.
Purple Dreams, by Ide Cyan Sidious-Palpatine Fan Fic Archive
Portrait of Maul as a brutal codependent. Chilling and effective.
Training to acquire the skills of a Sith Lord had exacted long and painful years from his youth. It had consumed his mind and formed it into a tool and a weapon, much as his body had, but twisted it rather than exalted it. For all his intelligence, Maul had few dreams of his own. Tradition had chosen his dreams for him, and the sole perpetrator of the dark lore upon Maul's very essence was -- had always been -- Sidious. Independent thought arises from a detachment from safety, from an upset of desire, a tremor running in the foundations. Maul was a pure construct of fear. His fear of his master, his fear of abandonment, his fear of the worlds, of the universe from which every Sith has always been alienated, for the past thousand years.
The Senator's Apprentice, by AK Sidious-Palpatine Fan Fic Archive
This one's actually rather sad. It shows how little regard Sidious has for Maul. It's not violent, not psychologically disturbing, just...sad.
The affection in the offhand caress was unusual as well. Maul could not see his Master's face, but he felt the other man's physical pleasure, and the erotic thrill given him by the power he would soon seize. Maul wondered if Palpatine was still looking down at him, but he doubted it. In his mind he could see his Master; he would be staring out at nothing, concentrating on the future.

A dark and brutal story about Sith sex. If excessive blood in a sex story isn't for you, then turn back now. But it's very in character for both of them. Maul is subservient and giving, Sidious takes, but also pampers. It works. Part 1 is better than 2, which is better than 3, but they're all worth reading.
If nothing else works, I'll do what I wanted to do with him for a long time. He is beautiful and strong, and his ebony body with the tattooed face has always excited me. Yet I wouldn't think of taking him to my bed, not before his training is completed. But now I can play with him as I please. He is Sith, as much a connoisseur of strong sensations as I am. It is part of the Dark; one needs more than a soft kiss, much more than a gentle embrace. We need to experience pain with our pleasure, we need far more than the ordinary. Of course, it has its price. What others enjoy--the safety, the comfort of love--doesn't exist for us. There's always the sharp edge of danger in every touch, in every word we exchange. He's dreaming of killing me, and I dream of replacing him with the chosen one when the time is right. But not now. Not for a long time.
Maul/Female character
I generally don't like these, and not just because I'm a slash lover at heart. Most Maul/f stories are very Mary Sue, and involve him acting atrociously out of character and proclaiming undying love.
Falling Series, by M. Nama Narayana Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade Fanfic Archive
This is a Maul/Amidala story, set in an alternate universe where Maul was never sent after the Jedi on Naboo. It takes place several years after the events in the movie, so don't worry, Amidala is of age. Maul stays pretty firmly in character in this series, which is refreshing.
She realized that she was facing a serious question, but the concerns she had and the promises she had made herself earlier in the evening now seemed years ago and thoroughly unimportant. Swallowing her natural hesitation, she framed a reply in the same formal language. "You have given of yourself generously. It is time for you to take your pleasure as you would."
"Padme Padme." Something newly dangerous in his low voice caused her to look up at his face. It had changed instantly, becoming a mask of rage. "If I truly take my pleasure, they shall find your pale body cold on the marble floor at dawn."
Chilling, effective, and very Sithly. It also does not fall prey to Mary Sue syndrome in the least. Amidala is a wonderfully-drawn character, fully in line with what you see in the film. You don't ever get the feeling that the author is living vicariously through her.
Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan
There's a ton of Q/O out there, and there are plenty of people far more qualified to give recommendations than I am. Here's one that I liked.
The Carnival of Light, by Rose Rose's Fanfic Archive
This is the first Q/O I read, and it'll always be my favorite. Rose is an excellent writer, and this story shows it fully. There's no undue angst, no over the top self-torture, just two randy guys who are a little rusty at this love thing.
The thought of Qui-Gon sobered him, reminding him of what exactly was at stake here. He was putting his relationship with his master in jeopardy and all for the sake of what? A one night stand with a nameless stranger? A cheap, tawdry little fling?
Quite possibly the most amazing sex he'd had in years?
Erase and correct. The only sex he'd had in years.
"Mad," he said again, and set about tidying up his suite.
Funny stories
Almost Got Him, by Aya Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade Fanfic Archive
Not slash in the least, but this story is a hoot. Obi-Wan and Maul meet up in a bar and start bitching about their respective masters.
"Hey," Maul added, "At least you get to talk to people. Whenever I strike up a conversation with anyone, my master does the lightning gazot and BOOM-gone. I mean jeez, I was asking the dude what time it was, he didn't have to vaporize him." He took a quick swallow. "And you wanna know why? His reasons? 'There can only be two, a master and an apprentice.'"
"Yeah right, I get to talk to people. I get to stand on a box behind my master looking like I care what he's talking about." He finished off his drink and ordered a third, then had them refill Maul's. "The guy's a nut."
Jar-Jar and the Amazing Tongue-Loving Jedi, and A Droid, a Gungan, and a Padawan Walk into a Bar, by Laura JV Master/Apprentice Archive
Okay, okay, so most people don't want Jar-Jar and sex in the same part of their brains, but these stories will have you rolling on the floor with tears streaming down your face. Sure, the tears are half-agony induced, but you won't care.
When we were finally headed to Coruscant, I found myself finding ways to be close to JarJar. Obi-Wan caught me staring longingly at the Gungun more than once--when I should have been paying attention to something else. After the third time, he sighed and said "It's the tongue thing again, isn't it?"
I blushed. "That obvious?"
"Master, you've been watching him and twitching your ass."
Jedi at the Gate, by Chat Noir Master/Apprentice Archive
What was really going through everyone's heads during the final lightsaber battle scene in TPM? Could it have been a little something like this:
Obi-Wan Gotta keep moving. Keep limber. I must be ready in a split second. I can't let my master down. Avoid cramping, that's important. Jogging, yes, it will keep the blood flowing. Left leg, right leg, left leg, right leg...
Maul Why is the blonde one hopping? What is this? Oh, great. Now the old one's kneeling. Is this normal? I mean, no one told me about this kind of stuff. All I got was 'Go reveal yourself to the jedi, seek revenge.' Nothing about this crap. My mission briefing never said anything about force beams or dancing jedi. Sidious has a lot of explaining to do on this one
Qui-Gon I've got a really bad feeling about this
Sure makes the scene more enjoyable!
Other
Duality, by Rose Rose's Fanfic Archive
Maul and Obi-Wan crashland on a planet...and don't have sex. Yes, this is slash, but not M/O, and the slash is not the focus of the story. Instead, it's about watching two enemies try to work together. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail, and not all the successes and failures happen on purpose.
When he is finished drinking, he expects the Jedi to leave. Instead, the young human sits down on the bunk opposite Maul's, folds his arms across his chest and observes. There is a restlessness beneath the tranquil pose that catches Maul's attention despite his near-fugue state. Something troubles this serene young man, something so deep that, even drugged, Maul can sense it. Or perhaps it is merely that Maul is more sensitive to the darker emotions.
Either way, it is there and Maul is drawn to it like a carcharodon to a blood trail. He lifts his head, scenting, and meets the level gaze of his captor. There is no hint of weakness in the blue-green eyes, but there is pain deeply buried. If Maul were stronger, he would find the source of that pain and use it. As things stand, all he can do is stare.
If you like this story, be sure to encourage Rose to work on the prequel and sequel.
Fin and Jinn series, by Apache The Place of Our Legacy (it has no author index: the stories are "Requiem," "Vigil," "Well Begun," "Zero," "Weeds," and "Escort.")
A series about how Finis Valorum and Qui-Gon Jinn initially met back when Valorum was a lower-level politician and Qui-Gon was newly knighted, and how their friendship grew over time. It's a fascinating character study of both men.
Valorum scratched his nose. "I'd just told him to go fuck a Hutt, and he said, 'Obi-Wan would find that amusing.'" He smiled slightly. "I kind of gathered that he didn't, not entirely."
"You said that to Master Qui-Gon?" There were about fifteen different tones mixed in the boy's voice, but bitterness was not one of them.
"No, I said it to my friend Jinn," Finis answered easily. "It was a chink in his armor, you know-- I could always nail him with something truly sleazy. The man didn't have a vulgar bone in his body."

- Grey Water, by Jenn
A very poignant post-movie story where Toad is confronted by his memories of Magneto as embodied by Rogue. Contains a Magneto/Toad scene that was totally believable and beautiful and sad all at the same time.
A warm cloak, a gentle hand stroking his hair back, eyes impossibly dark, making promises that branded him more deeply than the dirt coating his bruised skin, fragile bones. Kneeling in the collected garbage of rotting tenements, unmindful of expensive wool slacks that whispered softly with every movement, hands cupping his face and meeting his eyes without disgust.
Promising life and hope in a filthy alley.
He'd whispered brother and Toad believed, when Eric killed them with their own guns. Worship was easy and in a motel room he'd been stripped of his ragged clothes with soft, cultured hands and washed free of blood, the scars on his body marked with traveling, understanding eyes. Memorizing the patterns of them across his back, traced with long, graceful fingers that soothed sensitive skin. Dipping to brush his hollow stomach, unconscious sensuality and understanding in every touch.
As if he was treasured, something long lost and now found.
- Happy Frigging St. Valentine's Day, by Alex SisterWolf
An amusing, yet violent Toad/Mystique story. Very realistic bad guy stuff, with the requisite Toad angst to boot.
I dock the boat and turn to see her transforming. She's decided to trash Jean Gray's reputation, I conclude, since she's taken the X-bitch's form but is dressed in a skin-tight, low-cut top and a skirt that's almost short enough to get her arrested. I grin in appreciation.
"What do you think?" she says in a perfect imitation of the redhead's cultured tones.
"Very nice. But I think you look better blue." I'm not lying either. Her normal form, naked, blue, and somewhat scaly, is the subject of most of my late-night imaginings, if you know what I mean.
Then she says the worst possible thing she could say. The words that come as a figurative kick in the balls, crushing my male ego into a thin red smear on the pavement.
"That's sweet, Toad. Thanks."
That Which Does Not Kill (plus sequels), by RedSith
A three-story series (so far) about the events after the movie. Toad pulls himself out of the Hudson after being electrocuted by Storm and meets up with a woman who helps him find a home with fellow outcasts.
"You're a mutant, aren't you?"
The raspy voice startled Mortimer. He'd thought the space under the old pier was deserted. He tried to get into a defensive crouch, but for the first time in his life his legs refused to hold him. Even his tongue felt numb and useless.
The voice was close. Mortimer searched the darkness but he couldn't see anything in the black at the very back of the pier. His belly clenched as he realized he could be in serious trouble.
"I saw you hit the water." Mortimer heard a slight rustle of fabric, a small cough. "No normal human could survive a fall like that."
Mortimer concentrated harder, and now he thought he could see the faint outline of a shape, a separate shadow buried in shadows. Neither the voice nor the shape let him know whether this living shadow was male or female.
Maybe it was something in between. Mortimer had seen a lot of strange things, stranger than most people could imagine.
He wondered if he could make it back to the water before it decided to hurt him.
Friendship and Killer Whales, by Alex SisterWolf at Alex Sisterwolf's Realm
A sweet and funny little story about Toad comforting Mystique with her relationship problems while watching a television program on killer whales.
Between sobs, she told him what had happened. "I was bored, so I changed into the form of that bitch, Jean Grey, and I went out... to a bar... in Georgetown... and I met this guy... I really liked him!" she wailed.
"There, there," Mort soothed, keeping an eye on the telly. Ooh, a pack of orcas herding a school of fish by confusing them with sonar pings. Now that's something you don’t see every day.
Faces in the Stone, by Andrea the Spiky Sithster
A new mutant catches Magneto's attentions, and he's young enough that Toad feels compelled to try and help him out. But Magneto doesn't appreciate the help.
"Wait!" Jacob cried. "Wait, please don't go. I'm sure Magneto is looking for you. He was earlier. He said you were just shy, and that's why you didn’t come out." He paused for a moment, thinking, and then quietly confided, "Magneto says that he and I have more power than all the rest of the Brotherhood combined. He said that he wants me to lead with him."
Toad stopped, and turned slowly around again to face the boy. His large eyes were cold, but deep inside them there was the flame of something Jacob could not recognize, smoldering there in the void. The intensity of it caused him to take an unconscious step backwards as Toad slowly advanced. His terrible gaze was fixed firmly on the boy's own hazel eyes.
"Don't believe everything you hear," he said slowly, deliberately. Jacob took another step back and felt a lump rising in his throat. Toad vanished without another word and the boy left the cavern, the mutant's words still ringing in his ears.
Funny X-Men
- I've Heard Talking Helps, and Scott's a God, by The Mean Splean
Two hysterical stories about the characters from the movie. In "I've Heard Talking Helps," the movie gang is in group therapy to discuss how they feel about how the movie portrayed them. Here's part of Toad's session:
"They write stories about me being this charming guy and stuff. They write stories all about me and some of you here. They even write stories where it's," he paused to swallow, "them and me, and how great I am and stuff. They make me sound like Brad Pitt with bad skin. I know for a fact that if I put on red and black face paint, some of them will be unable to breathe for a week. It's not supposed to be like that. I just want to, I just want it to go back to the way it was. I want to be detested again"
Charles looked on sadly as it seemed that Toad might start crying. Instead he manfully clenched his jaw and sat back down, and looked straight ahead and into space.
"There, there Toad, we know your pain. It seems that you and Logan share the curse of being seen as romantic leads."
Toad immediately jumped up and started ranting.
"But I'm not the leading character, I'm part of the supporting cast. I'm there to make up the numbers. It could have easily been any other character. I hardly even had lines for God's sake."
"Toad, calm yourself. We've talked about insulting the writers and the damage that can lead to."
Toad sat down once again, a slightly fearful look on his face. He looked at the roof, almost afraid that one of those self same authors was looking down on him now, a lusty gleam in their eye.
And while "Scott's a God" is based on the comic book universe, you'll still be roaring as you read passages like this:
"But what if it wasn't just one big bang but in fact a whole series of small bangs. Thus making Einstein's theory would have to be false."
Beast was stunned. "That's absolutely brilliant, Scott. I wouldn't have thought of that for the very life of me."
"Not a problem, Hank." Scott smiled, the light from the rising sun catching his teeth just right. He left Beast and returned to the kitchen where he was cooking a large breakfast for the entire faculty. Hank slumped down next to Ororo.
"My, my. That Scott is a man of many talents." Hank commented to Ororo, who was far more interested in watching the man in question's behind leaving the room.
"He certainly is." She commented, her voice betraying more than a hint of lust.
You'll be seeing those gleaming teeth again if you read this story. And again, and again...
Other X-Men
- At Twenty-One, by Jenn
- Jenn's Fanfic Indulgence
- I can't buy Logan/Rogue. This story's a very good example of why it just couldn't work.
It's one of those things that isn't really apparent until just now--I'm Marie. No, not that. I'm Marie, whom Logan picked up on the side of the road--granted, he threw me out on the side of the road first--whom Logan feels responsible for, who he saved from Magneto. Sort of a bond--he scares the crap out of other people but never scares me. I'm Marie, therefore I have a free pass, as far as Logan's concerned.
The thing is, and this is something new for me all of a sudden, that I only know that Logan. I've only heard about that other side--the side that likes to fight and drink and fuck women three ways from Sunday. The one who gets off by screwing around in a ring and beating the crap out of people, the one who slipped three claws in Mystique, the one with what in a normal person might be called a suicidal tendency. The one who fears absolutely nothing, because he's three steps from being immortal, or as close to it as any human can ever get.
The one I saw in the ring at Laughlin City, who's a completely different man from the one shooting whisky with me. Only one of them is in my fantasy life.
Who knew alcohol would bring profound thoughts.
