Jennifer Adams Kelley was a long-time fan most active in Doctor Who fandom. She was active in a variety of areas - fiction writing, fan art, zine editing, assisting with various conventions, including Chicago TARDIS, Visions and Gallifrey One, vidding/acting/costuming (as part of The Federation fan film collective) and more. Jennifer's fan writing included professional publications, with essays featured in Chicks Dig Time Lords by Lynne Thomas and Tara O'Shea (eds) and Outside In by Stacy Smith?[1] (ed). She also co-authoring Red, White and Who, a history of Who fandom in the U.S. from the 1960s onwards[2].

She died on February 26, 2019, at the age of 55 after a short battle with cancer.[3] Her death was considered a huge loss to the fandom she had cherished.

When Jennifer passed away on February 26th of this year, the internet exploded. Well, at least the internet feeds of Doctor Who fans. Hundreds of fans, with no exaggeration, posted on Facebook and other social media about the loss of one of fandom’s great champions. The outpouring of love and sympathy was staggering. Many of these friends and people had been brought together because of events that Jennifer had planned or been a part of. Many of the people commiserating knew each other because of Jennifer’s efforts. Friends gave each other hugs. Kind and loving words were shared in forums. People simply wanted everyone to experience love. It was what Jennifer would have done.

Chicago TARDIS added the Cancer Research Institute to their charity auction donation roster in Jennifer's memory.[5]

"The Missing Mistletoe Affair" (MUNCLE)

[zine]:

"The Missing Mistletoe Affair" by Jennifer Adams Kelly is a U.N.C.L.E. story that's better than most aired U.N.C.L.E. episodes. (Scarcely a term of distinction, I realize.) The story is just plain fun. My favorite part was the cliffhanger when Mark Slate was trapped in a life-size snowman mold about to be drowned in molten plastic! Very true to the flavor of the original series, with a lot more consistency of plot and cleverness of the agents. Some great lines, such as one Thrush underling to another: "Like you're Mister Bigshot because you get to deliver toilet paper to all satraps in a three-state radius." The Thrush's kindly, confused father was a funny and touching character, whose poignancy never degenerated into melodrama. [6]

"The My Partner Wore Tights Affair" (MUNCLE)

"The My Partner Wore Tights Affair" by Jennifer Adams is a romp on the level of a good Batman (TV) episode or a silly third season MUNCLE, say, the Off-Broadway Affair. Illya goes undercover as a superhero to capture a self-appointed "fashion police" character who has been stalking the laundromats of New York.[7]

Honorable mention in this division goes to Jennifer Adams' "My Partner Wore Tights." It is very silly, but oddly logical, after its own premises, which are comic-bookish. If you compare it to a typical third season episode, it looks even better. "Fashionman" is terrorizing NYC by destroying style solecisms, as well as a lot of people's laundry. Only "The Scarlet Manuka" (a.k.a. "The Grey Ghost"? "The Iron Paw"?) can stop him. Witty, characteristic dialogue especially sets off this piece. Adams has a good ear.[8]
