Chinese Take-Away is a gen humor Kung Fu: The Legend Continues anthology.

It contains humorous fusion stories, vignettes, mock ads, irreverent episode reviews, filks, and cartoons.

A third issue was awfully close to publication, but did not get off the ground.

Issue 1

Chinese Take-Away 1 was published in September 1994.

From an ad in GAZ:

This ain't no sippin' Kung Fu fanzine! Finally a zine that takes a look at the lighter side o Kung Fu and Kung Fu: TLC. (Well someone had to!) We have taken extra care to prepare the freshest, funniest stories by some of the best writers out there... Get it while it's still hot. But be prepared to crave more!

Issue 2

Chinese Take-Away 2 was published in May 1995 and contains 74 pages. It has the subtitle: "A Second Helping."

cover of issue #2
flyer

From the flyer: "All dishes use the freshest ingredients. We use no MSG."

The table of contents divides the content up into Appetizers, Soup, Dim Sum, Main Course, and Dessert.

A note on the technology: "Gateway 2000 P5/90, Intel Smart Video Recorder Pro, WordPerfect 6.0a/Win. the CorelDRAW! 5 suite, including PHOTO-PAINT! and VENTURA. Macs? We prefer computers that aren't named after fruit."

Regarding duplication: {{Quotation|

disclaimer from issue #2, "Obligatory security thing: if you see a cute cookie in green above, you know you bought a legit copy. Of course, those who duplicate fanzines without the editors' permission are really stupid and destined to come back as cockroaches, 'cause then at least they'd gain an intelligence."
At least some issues had a sticker next to this statement that read: "Ha! The cookie is in purple, not green. Had you going there for a moment, didn't we?"

From a submission request in GAZ:

Hungry for a second helping? Well, so are we! We're looking for funny, stupid, or just plain weird situations for any Cainetobein--past, present and future! Stories, filks, cartoons, vignettes, top ten lists and anything else you can think of! (Please do, our fingers hurt from doing all this writing!) Submission deadline is April 1, 1995 as we're hoping to get this ready for MediaWest.

From the editorial, which doesn't inspire confidence:

You know, you’d think we’d know better by now, that when we want to have a fanzine out for MediaWest, we’d plan in advance instead of leaving things for the last minute. But, no. that would be too easy. So we’re left to scramble, especially Jennifer, who does the graphic work. Which means...poor proofreading, art not as nice as we’d like it, all that stuff. We blame it all on real life getting in the way. Jan had a mess o’ doll business to take care of (you want a good price on a collectable Barbie, talk to her!), while Jennifer had to devote too much time to plastic piping (and an U.N.C.L.E. story wanting to be written). Oh. well, life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans. Remember: all errors are really intentional and intended for your amusement. (By the way, yes, we noticed the weird quote marks...seems to be a bug in Ventura's WordPerfect 6filter. We tried everything to convert the quotes to the proper typeface version, but they wouldn't go. Hopefully the maintenance release (which Jennifer has on order) will take care of things....)

Thanks to all of you who nominated the first issue of Chinese Take-Away for a Fan-Q! We appreciate you thinking of us. We actually got some Letters of Comment in about the first issue, but Jennifer misplaced them. Seriously! Hopefully we’ll be bringing those to you in Issue 3. [1]

None of the content listed on the flyer went to other zines, at least not with the titles portrayed.
