The Monkees are an American band originally active between 1966 and 1971. The group was conceived in 1965 specifically for the situation comedy series of the same name, based on The Beatles films. The show, which told the misadventures of a struggling pop group, aired from 1966 to 1968.
A comic book series, The Monkees, ran in the United States for 17 issues from 1967 to 1969.[1]

The first incarnation started with a crossover between animated television series Fanboy and Chum Chum and Sidekick and evolved from there to include many other series.
