Island of the Slaughtered, abbreviated as IOTS, is a darkfic-like multimedia fanwork for Total Drama, specifically Total Drama: Island (2007), by eavee-ry. It is an alternate universe where Chris McLean abandons Total Drama's contestants at Camp Wawanakwa the day the series was set to begin. He returns one month later to find that, out of 22 contestants, only Gwen, Duncan, Katie, Eva, Leshawna, Izzy and Cody weren't murdered by a killer living on the island. The spirits of the deceased contestants became vengeful spirits, and as soon as Chris returns to the island, they take their revenge on him.
Island of the Slaughtered is structured in a layered Tumblr post format. Every linked post takes the reader to the next part of the story, which features one of the victims, artwork of their corpse, and poetry relating to their death in some way. Every artwork is blurred, and unblurred material is kept below read mores, though it is impossible to read the poetry or continue the thread without unblurring the artwork. The work is also on eavee-ry's TikTok. On there, instead of a layered thread, each part is their own slideshow post. Flicking up takes readers to the next victim.
The AU created a considerable amount of fanac and recursive fanworks, spread across everywhere fandom lives. eavee-ry's Island of the Slaughtered Universe (Total Drama) is a wrangled tag on Archive of Our Own, and the first victim's post on TikTok has over 2,300,000 views, 112,900 likes, and 3260 comments on TikTok alone[1]. It is the most popular shared universe in the fandom as of 2024.
The most common pairing associated with this AU is Cody/Noah, and many fanworks feature either contestant, though all contestants get attention from fans.
In March of 2024, painedpen exposed Island of the Slaughtered as being plagiarised from mickules's Dangantober Dormitories series for the Danganronpa fandom[2]. Some of the poetry from that series was taken without permission and used in this one without any proper credit to mickules. Other sections were, "heavily inspired," by Dangantober Dormitories. As of April of 2024, mickules has seemingly yet to comment about the matter and eavee-ry has deleted Island of the Slaughtered from TikTok and Tumblr and apologized. Some of it was not archived.
Total Drama Fanon within Island of the Slaughtered
Island of the Slaughtered gives characters last names which do not have them in Total Drama canon. These names mostly come from a combination of the notable fanfics Total Drama Comeback and Slippery Slopes, (in Noah's case only.) Justin's (Kalani) and Owen's (Burnham) last name origins are currently unknown, but neither are creations of eavee-ry. Cody/Noah is also canon[3] in this AU.

Fan Reactions
Fan reaction have been generally positive. Because the work takes place only after the murders happened, it is open to interpretation what exactly took place before the living contestants could escape. Many fanfics have the premise of exploring a character's final thoughts or the survivors' guilt. Some focus on just one murder while others may focus on all of them. Many fanarts for the AU reinterprets murders in different art styles, or draws missing scenes. AUs of this AU are also common, most often of canon divergence.
To many in Total Drama fandom, the sudden rise of gorey, unblurred and untagged darkfic artwork in character tags and social media feeds immediately put many off to this AU. This is primarily due to the younger age of most Island of the Slaughtered fans. Although eavee-ry's posts on TikTok and Tumblr adequately warned of its contents, the same cannot be said for many fanworks. This post, Archived version, by total-drama-shark, attempts to tell Tumblr users unfamiliar with the platform how to put things behind read mores. The issue is worse on Tiktok, though both platforms provide simple ways of implementing warnings for works. This fanart, Archived version by hotsmokeycowboy on TikTok is an example of an inadequately warned-for work featuring body horror and corpse decay. On Tumblr, total-drama-shark concludes that "nearly half[4]" of all potentially triggering IOTS content on Tumblr may be improperly warned for.

Headcanons are also common. One controversial one is the theory this AU's killer sexually assaulted Heather before and/or after murdering her, which eavee-ry has debunked[8].
