In the early 90s, vid show/vid contests strictly limited the number of entries that any individual vidder could put in the show (typically 3). To get around that limit, vidders often created a group entity that could submit vids as well, making it possible for a vidder to show up to 6 vids, with 3 of those being collaborations. Since the Media Cannibals was already one group of vidders, Sandy and rache created Clucking Belles as a second vidding collaborative, and used it whenever the group had more vids than could be shown under the Media Cannibals label. Once the larger group stopped vidding together, Sandy and rache resurrected the old name, and started doing their computer-based vidding under that name.

The name "Clucking Belles" comes from a line from the show Blackadder: "I think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell..."

In December 2009, fans offered feedback on their body of work as part of sdwolfpup's Fanvid Love Meme.[1]

In 2012, par avion collected feedback on both the Clucking Belles and the Media Cannibals vids here.[2]
