Some Excerpts

I really can’t remember what drew me to the Harry Potter books, to be honest. I just know that when I sat down to read the first one, I couldn’t stop and in one week had finished reading all four books. Then, it was the long wait for the 5th book to appear and I needed more Potter!

I Yahoo Searched (long before Google, OMG I’m so old!) Harry Potter and found fanfiction! OMG What an incredible world this was! I read Aja’s [sic] “Naked Quidditch Match,” out loud in my living room to my sister and husband and was hooked forever! A few stints with several HP fanfic archives later, found me sitting with a group of amazing people writing an RPG where I really think my writing was improved greatly. There’s nothing like having friends to write with, that encourage you to grow as a writer and a person. Soon after the RPG, Satindolls, Simon’s Flower and I decided that we needed a place where you could host all of your work, slash, het, fluffy and not-so-much regardless of the pairing, rating or situation and on Halloween, we birthed The Quidditch Pitch. The easiest labor any of us have had.

Simon’s Flower – I met first. We co-founded the RPG we wrote for, The Dungeon and met in person shortly after (April of the following year, if I remember correctly). I’d fangirled her trio smut long before writing with her and nearly died when I found out we’d be writing together in the RPG. She’s my Hermione and evil Overlord and one of my best friends. She’s also one of the best airport snogs I’ve had! ;)

Satindolls – I met while writing the RPG as well. I’d fangirled her Ron/Hermione and when she started writing Ron in the RPG, I KNEW we’d found the perfect writer! She’s one of my best friends as well and has helped me become a better mom, writer and friend to others. We are as close as sisters and it’s all due to Harry! She’s my Ron and squishy.

Dream wia Dream – I swear I meet most of you through fangirling because I fangirled her Remus/Sirius series and then learned she was a webmistress extraordinaire. When we decided to open TQP, she was the first person I wanted on the team. She’s one of my closest friends and holds a special place in my heart.

[Three things you love about fandom:]

The Community - In this fandom you’re never alone. We look out for each other, support each other, lift each other up and create lasting friendships. I can’t say that about any other fandom.

The Verse - Whether you liked the Epilogue or not, or found the revelation about Dumbledore’s sexual preference disturbing or not, whether you like slash, het, femme or mpreg, you can find anything and everything to work with from the verse JKR has left us.

The Characters - Yes, this could be coupled into the verse but I think it deserves its own category in this question for me. The ability to take any character and put him/her/it into any situation within fanon or canon and have fodder to play with is amazing to me. I love reading stories where a minor character is made the hero or where an odd pairing is made to work. I could go and on about this, but I’ll spare everyone my blather. ;)
