Trisha Masen, better known as Simon's Flower, was a long-time fan and fan writer. Her primary online fandom was Harry Potter, for which she wrote over a hundred stories.

History

Her LiveJournal profile states:

"simons_flower has been writing for more than 25 years, though it is doubtful things from that far back will ever see the light of day. Her first major fandom was 1980’s pop rock, especially Duran Duran. In fact, there is a fic on her hard drive that began on an Apple IIC computer that may eventually be finished in this lifetime. From there, she drifted for a while, content to read more than write, visiting sci-fi fandoms such as The X-Files and Quantum Leap. Then came Harry Potter.
The vast majority of the works here are Harry Potter fan fiction works, more than 120 at last count (May 2009). However, her best friend, the one who was with her back in those original days of band fan fic in the 1980’s just got her hooked on Doctor Who. Through Doctor Who, she found Torchwood. Then came the new Star Trek movie and she re-discovered her love for Star Trek – the love for which she blames her mother, though her mother could never convince her to love Shatner’s Kirk. Give her Chris Pine’s Kirk."

In 2006, Simon's Flower was interviewed for the Harry Potter archive The Quidditch Pitch, where she explained that she got into Harry Potter fandom after hearing an NPR interview with the founders of The Sugar Quill in late 2002. Her first Harry Potter fanfic was "Come On, Virginia," published in March 2003. (See Quidditch Pitch Interview with Simons Flower.)

Simon's Flower passed away in August 2009.[3] A memories community for Simon's Flower was set up at flowers4trisha on LiveJournal.

  • Fanart for simons_flower, by mudblood428. "The Forest Again" was Trisha's favorite scene of HP. At madam_minnie and tqpannie's request, I have replaced Harry with Trisha, and dressed her in her Ravenclaw robes.
  • Simons_Flower passed away August 5, 2009. She was a co-founder of The Quidditch Pitch, a mother, a writer, a sister, and the best friend anyone could ask for. We miss her terribly and not a day goes by that we don't feel the loss. However, we do have all her stories here and she would love for you to enjoy her stories and please leave a review! -- Simons_Flower's bio at The Quidditch Pitch

smut4flowers

In Simon's Flower's memory, her friends hosted a fanwork fest called smut4flowers.

"smut4flowers is a multi-fandom fest to honor the memory of simons_flower. The fest will include all of simons_flower's favorite fandoms: Harry Potter, Torchwood, Star Trek, and Dr. Who. The fest will be smutty because there is nothing simons_flower enjoyed more than making people squirm with her smut."[4]

Participants were asked to contribute stories or artwork featuring Simon's Flower's favorite pairings and at least one of her favorite things (chosen from a list that included food, kinks, characters, and other items). Posting started on September 4th, 2009, which would have been simons_flower's 38th birthday
