A fest is a challenge in which participants provide prompts (generally for fanfic) and then choose a prompt from a list compiled by the fest moderators. A fest may be fandom, pairing or character specific; it may have a particular theme, such as a holiday, a kink or a trope; it may be held to celebrate a particular event.
