Pomona Sprout is the Hogwarts Herbology teacher in the Harry Potter series. She is also head of Hufflepuff house.
Sprout's given name "Pomona" first appeared in the Wizards of the Coast Harry Potter Trading Card Game. There was initially debate about whether this should be considered canon,[1] but it was later confirmed by its appearance in Half-Blood Prince.
The 20th Anniversary Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone state in a "fact files" appendix that Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick had a past romantic relationship, based on a fake tweet made by CollegeHumor attributed to Rowling.[2] Bloomsbury replied on Twitter that the error has been corrected for reprints.[3]
