Fan Comments
Phoenix is a nice addition to your artists stable. Is she/he new to fandom? It's just the last year or so I recall seeing Phoenix in multimedia zines.... [1]

Blake's 7
from Avon Calling #1 (1990)
from Avon Calling #1 (1990)
from Avon Calling #1 -- This drawing shows a startled Cally discovering a naked Avon and Vila. In fanon, Cally was often very accepting of the Avon/Vila pairing; however, in a few stories she would be jealous. The Avon/Cally pairing was one of the more popular het pairings in Blake's 7 fandom. (1990)
from Avon Calling #1 (1990)
"Promises, Promises" from Fire and Ice #1 (1990)
from Magnificent Seven (1991)
from Avon Calling #2 -- "I'm still having major wet-dreams about her Avon Calling 2 covers and gatefold!" [2]
"Cover by Phoenix. Nude. Doesn't really look like Avon as far as I can see (too soppy expression & too over-muscled). [3] (1991)from Avon Calling #2 (1991)
from Avon Calling #2 for "For Play". Another feature of Phoenix's art is her focus on hurt/comfort themes. In this image, Avon appears injured and the hand holding his face is positioned so it an be seen as either threatening or comforting. (1991)
from Avon Calling #2 for "For Play." A rare comedic drawing, showing a startled Avon screaming and holding a kitten. In fan fiction, Avon is portrayed as dark, brooding and serious character. This image shows that some fans valued the lighter side of the character and loved to poke gentle fun at the fanon. "Have you read "For Play" in AVON CALLING II? It's a "kitten adopts Avon" story with a really amazing centerfold by Phoenix. In the story, Avon is not a kitten person, though he might be a cat person." -- [4] (1991)
from Avon Calling #2 #2, two-page centerfold by Phoenix for "For Play" -- "Avon finds a stray kitten - showing Vila the softer side well hidden under his forbidding exterior." [5] (1991)
from Avon Calling #2, Phoenix for "Festival" -- "There are some more Phoenix's in this 'zine which I don't like, I think she can do him as too Soppy & Quivery." [6] (1991)
from Liaisons #1 (1991)
from Liaisons #1 (1991)
from Fire and Ice #2 -- "Nice cover by Phoenix - armwrestling. Avon is looking Wearily Affectionate and Blake is looking Obstinately Gentle. I like this better than the other Phoenix stuff I've seen - it looks more low-key and intimate."[7] (1993)
from Delta Blues -- "Look at that face. That is an adorable Vila. He just bought you drinks (with the wallet he stole from you,) and is proceeding to charm the pants off of you to boot. You’ll wake up the next day missing all your valuables, and you won’t even care, because he’ll have stolen your heart as well." -- [8] (1993)
from Delta Blues (1993)
from Avon Calling #3 -- "I like how ridic the cover is, as well, although again I almost can't look at it for long. It's a nice idea. Also Vila looks shocked and alarmed to discover himself there... which amuses me." [9] (1994)
from Avon Calling #3 -- This last image helps demonstrate the wide thematic range of Phoenix's artwork. This sensual depiction of Avon/Villa also features a somewhat unusual composition by offering two different perspectives of Avon/Vila - the lower image uses a longer 'lens' to create a romantic feeling. The upper image, with a narrower focus, showcases the passionate urgency of the pairing. (1994)
from Avon Calling #3 (1994)
from Southern Comfort #8.75 -- "..."a sultry, brooding Avon and delicious Vila by Phoenix" [10] (1994)
from No Holds Barred #6 (1994)
"Not Quite Friends," from Zen and the Art of Rebellion #3 (1994)
from Love and Sacrifice -- "The covers by Phoenix are nice, the Blake on the front being great except for the fact that he's partially hidden by Mr. Roman Nose himself." [11] (1995)
from Love and Sacrifice (1995)
from Fire and Ice #3, won a 1995 STIFfie Award (1995)
The Professionals
from On the Double #14 (1990), reprinted a year later in "Liaisons" #1
from interior Liaisons #1 (1991)
front cover of Liaisons #1 (1991)
back cover of Liaisons #1 (1991)
from Chalk and Cheese #10 (1992)
from Chalk and Cheese #10, depicts George Cowley -- "Liked the Phoenix Cowley on page 159." [12] (1992)
from No Holds Barred #6 (1994)
Other
from Liaisons #1 (Miami Vice) (1991)
from Liaisons #1 (1991)
from First Principles #5 (Sandbaggers/Man from U.N.C.L.E.) (1993)
