Patchlamb is a millennial and long-time member of fandom, starting circa 2007 or 2008. She has been in and out of several fandoms over the years, some longer and more enthusiastically than others. She has contributed to fandom by making fan art, original characters, and a handful of fanfiction. The fandoms she has been the most active in were 9 and Steven Universe. Patchlamb's activity is congregated mainly through DeviantART and Tumblr, though she also spent many early years roleplaying on Furcadia. She made a handful of AMVs, mainly for 9 and Littlest Pet Shop on her old Youtube channel "LoveMySugarRush," and as of 2020, makes Lets Plays on her Patchlamb channel.

You have reached Waffle. (Arrow) Another 9 fangirl. The one girl who was at school on the 9th squeeling and giggling from the thought that 9 was reasled.

History

Patchlamb had been through several pseuds. Starting in 2008, at about 11 years old, she presented under the name Blue-Wolf1 on DeviantART and focused on El Tigre.[2] After being banned on DA when other users discovered her age (as users must be 13 years or older) she mostly stayed Furcadia under the username "Aka Waffle." Waffle was her first fursona and her Meerkat Manor OC upon joining the furry fandom, and was a brown meerkat with red bat wings who could spit acid. As Waffle, she spent a lot of time making friends on Furcadia, particularly in the Meerkat Manor fandom that resided there.

In 2009, when the movie 9 came out, Patchlamb stayed under the username "Arrow" on The 9 Forum (changed to Patchlamb years later), and roleplayed on The Source under the name "Eccentric." She re-joined DeviantART after turning 13 under the username "Stitchpunk," a reference to 9. She quickly switched to the account named "Scrittchscratch" as she broadened past the 9 fandom.

In 2010 (still under Scrittchscratch) she moved towards her second fursona called Wool, a pink sheep. She also began using the name Wool on Furcadia. She became a fan of Vivzmind (now a popular animator named Vivziepop) and made quite a bit of 9 fanart. 9 was her main fandom during this period, though she dabbled in other fandoms such as Invader Zim and Making Fiends.

Finally, in 2011 (age 14 or 15), she took on her pseud Patchlamb on DeviantART, her longest running username. She used both Scrittchscratch and Patchlamb at the same time, using Patchlamb as an account to house her original characters, but she soon moved there permanently. Under Patchlamb she made hundreds of artworks, many of them fandom related, and posted a journal entry at least once every month or so. At some point in 2011 she created her own meerkat dream on Furcadia to roleplay Meerkat Manor, though this didn't last long as by that time Furcadia's user base began to shrink. She'd begin moving away from Meerkat Manor after this. 9 remained her main fandom but she was branching out much more by this time, as it had been two years since the film released.

She joined Tumblr in 2012 as Patchlamb. She was in the Once-ler fandom and ran an ask blog for the Barbaloot for a short amount of time.[3] She also ran an ask blog for an Enderman OC named Corantine.[4] This was a period in which she was a big fan of Homestuck, and she made a secondary art blog on Tumblr called woolenhoofbeast (a Homestuck reference and reference to Wool, her sheep fursona) which has since been renamed multiple times (as of 2020 this blog has been renamed prairieprayer). At some point between 2011 and 2012 she also dabbled a bit in an A Monster in Paris roleplay forum using a moth OC named Aurora.

The second longest fandom she was in was Steven Universe, though this was not until much later in her teen years. She stayed in this fandom heavily through 2014 to at least 2018, her contributions to it being mainly meta and blogging rather than a plethora of fanart, though she did create some fanart, such as fanfiction and visual art. Patchlamb ran the "No-SU-Crit-Here" Tumblr blog in response to the SU crit movement. This blog was her most popular blog, having gained over 2,500 followers. The blog dipped in activity during the show's many hiatuses. No-SU-Crit-Here became mostly inactive after the show ended, marking Patchlamb's waning interest.

Outside of her main fandoms Patchlamb has been in and out of other fandoms. Most of her fandoms have been cartoon or animation based, with the exception of some video game fandoms like Portal. Beyond fandom Patchlamb also created original art works, most surrounding animals and landscapes. She once ran a Patreon for her original work but shut it down about a year into it when she became busy under other unnamed pseudonyms. Modernly, in 2020, Patchlamb's DeviantART is inactive except for the occasional status update, and she put the majority of her art work into storage in 2019. However, she still uses the Tumblr of the same name as her re-blog only blog, where she re-blogs fandom content.

Controversies and Criticisms

In 2008 when Patchlamb was 11 and under her first pseud Blue-Wolf1 she was accused of stealing a more popular El Tigre fanartist's fan character.[5]

Krystal: DON'T STEAL MY IDEAS! THE ANCIENT WOLF SPIRIT IS MINE AND THE DESIGN OF YOUR CHAR HAS BIG LIKENESS TO MINE! DON'T BE SUCH A NOOB!!!

Krystal-the-fox

Callllm doooooowwwwwn. I don't think Blue wolf looks like la grisa loba, plus there are tons of ancient wolf spirits.~Minji-chan had one when we were little kiddies

Sparrow-Wolf

...And by the way, saying better character means its better than everybody's, which is a pathetic little lie because everyone's character will probably be better.

FYI, its COWARD, not COWERD. and FYI again, its ancient, not ancite. And you ripped Krystal off, you know how angry she is now? Your character's design is a total rip off.

Krystal has a great character, with the wolf spirit. And you just take it from her like that. Really, design your own outfit!!!

Beverii

Blue-Wolf1

In 2009 on the 9 roleplay forum "The Source," Patchlamb (under the name Eccentric) was accused of copying the design themes of the admin's character. Both characters had a lamb theme. Though by then Patchlamb had a sheep fursona and this was an obvious influence, the other roleplayers and admin did not believe that it was a coincidence. Eccentric deleted the character and left the forum, shunned by that particular branch of the 9 fandom. A few years later after The Source moved to a second site Patchlamb re-joined the group under her Patchlamb pseud, making it clear that she had been "Eccentric." The admin subsequently private messaged her to apologize for driving her away from the old forum.

During her teen years, though she had a good handful of online friends in both the 9 fandom and furry fandom, Patchlamb had also been involved with the troll community, particularly on DeviantART before such things were banned. DeviantART used to allow groups on its website which were created to harass or shame other users. Patchlamb took part in this for a few years, until she got older and stopped. Patchlamb briefly discusses this time in her life in a journal on DeviantART about how she blamed it on a toxic relationship with her childhood religion, as well as her difficulty with her own sexuality.[6]

You know I used to be pretty hateful. My sense of superiority was much worse freshman year than it is now. I even used to hate gay people secretly, and found it hard to admit to myself that yes, I did have crushes on girls.

...

At the same time I trolled people and said terrible things to people online and made fun of people anonymously, I was just a bad person. I'm embarrassed about it.

In her college years (2014-2018) she participated in the infighting between Steven Universe critical bloggers and Steven Universe stans. This lead to the creation of the No-SU-Crit-Here blog. While the blog was beloved and many saw it as positive outlet for enjoying a show and fandom they loved, those of the SU crit movement might say otherwise. Proponents of SU crit tended to see this sort of pure enjoyment of the show as "ignoring the issues" of the show. However, No-SU-Crit-Here's mission was not to ignore the issues, but to give other fans a place to see positive content during a time when negative content constantly flooded the Tumblr tags.

BLIND OPTIMISM WAS THE MURDERER!

But Vriska still needs to die a slow, painful death.

AND YOU- YOU adorable BLIND FEMALE! WHY MUST YOU PLAY WITH MY BELOVED BULL-HORNED TROLLS CORPSE? IF I DID NOT ADORE THE WIMPY MALE SO MUCH, I WOULD GIGGLE AT HOW FUNNY YOU LOOK PRETENDING YOU CAN BRING THE POOR DEAR BACK TO LIFE WITH A KISS ON HIS BLOODIED UP LIPS.

HEH. BUT OF COURSE, I CAN'T STAY ANGRY AT YOU.

You smug, l33t sp34king, HORRIBLE yet considerable FEMALE.

After waiting and watching the timer, Portal 2 has been released nearly 10 minutes ago! Too bad the decrypting thing is stuck on 32%. I think they're waiting for 12AM, so it will be April 19th so the game will seem to be released on the original date.

In other news, since I been reading Fanfiction, I felt I'm not very satisfied with most. Fanfiction.net's fanfics seems sooo. . not interesting. I don;t know. Some people have great plots, but very little detail. And some have very bad plots, with so-so detail. So, I'm thinking, if they can't fully satisfy me, maybe I ought to try my hand at it again! I haven't done anything big since 2009, I don't think. Not REAL Fanfiction where I try and make it detailed and nice. Other than a few stores I've written for myself in an inspiration journal, I've not typed anything of the sort online ina long time. I'm a little rusty, but so far I think I'm okay.

Sorry I didn't post last night. I didn't feel like typing a lot.

I graduate from high school this friday. Can you believe I'm turning 18 this year? Sometimes depending on my mood I'll think "this is the end" or "this is just the beginning."

Nothing much has been going on, really. I've just been chillin', playing games and working on art. Also sorta watching anime. I finished Sword Art Online a few days ago and now I'm watching some gay anime. I really dislike calling it "yoai" because it makes me feel like a huge weaboo, but I guess that's simpler than saying "gay anime" and puts it into a category.

Also, Addy and I recently got the PS4 we'd been saving for! We have Fallout 4, No Man's Sky, and the HD Skyrim. No Man's Sky is nice, though it can get a little repetitive and the gameplay is too slow to make it super interesting. Compare that to faster paced games that require constant planning, like Don't Starve. I like Fallout 4 a lot, spending most of my free time with that. Too bad you can't date Valentine wahhhh..
