Askblogs are a form of Tumblr blog that responds to questions. They are often used for roleplay for fanartists on Tumblr. People leave questions in the blog's ask box, and the blogger will reply. For roleplay, they will usually reply in-character. Though not as numerous as the fanart-based ones, there are some roleplay blogs that are all text.
Askblogs have become popular on Tumblr in recent years, but the concept may have been originated in the general dandom consciousness by the Ask Captain Jack[2] account on LiveJournal back in 2008. An earlier example is the Ask Draco blog hosted by Magical Theory, which was active as early as 2003.[3]

The most common and "default" type of askblog.
Cosplay
Cosplay askblogs reply with photos or gifs of mod in character, often accompanied by text.

Voice
Voice askblogs involve a person voice-acting in character. These blogs utilize tumblr's audio post feature and rarely use much text or images.

- Ask Octavia, one of the more popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic blogs, this is one of the longest running pony Askblogs. Currently on hiatus.
- Ask Homestuck, A general Homestuck blog. Considered to be one of the first Askblogs on Tumblr.
- Askmiddlearth, a blog for questions about Tolkien canon.
- Ask Nux and Ask Slit, two popular Mad Max: Fury Road askblogs.
- Ask (Not The Real) Hanson
- ask-crammaster-ham, a Hamilton (musical) Modern College AU blog which became infamous after its character sheets were circulated
