lionessvalenti, also known as Lioness Black, is a prolific multifandom fanfiction author and LiveJournal community moderator.
She is a frequent participant in fic challenges, including Yuletide, Chocolate Box, AU Exchange, and fandom-specific Big Bangs.
Lioness has been theorized to be the author of the infamous suspected trollfic My Immortal but has stated that she is "not associated with it or its author(s) in any way."[1]
As a Moderator
In Harry Potter fandom, she founded the LJ community ParryHotter with lionessfreedom in March 2002, and ran the Sirius Black comm padfootremains and Severus/Regulus comm severusregulus.
In Rent fandom, she ran rentficathon, markroger3somes, and bannedfromv4r, all founded from 2006 to 2007. She is also a co-mod of rentchallenge.
She also ran LJ communities for The Baby-Sitters Club (bsc100, founded in 2005) and White Collar (wcollar_gallery, founded in 2010), and is a co-mod of sara_ellis_fans. She also ran actor-centric comms for Amber Benson (amberbenson, founded in January 2002) and Gerard Butler (gerryicontest, founded in 2005).

Connection with My Immortal
Lioness has been theorized to be the author of My Immortal, thought to be behind the accounts of Tara Gilesbie and her purported beta, Raven. Lioness has denied being involved.
Lioness Black is notably the only author listed as a "favorite author" on Raven (bloodytearz666)'s FanFiction.Net account apart from Tara (XXXbloodywrists666XXX). Furthermore, FFN reviewers in 2006 noted that Raven used an email address that included "lionesswhite".[2] Lioness and Raven also had overlapping fandoms: Aside from Harry Potter, Lioness wrote The Baby-Sitters Club fic and Raven was a mod of a BSC forum.[3]
Raven commented on Lioness Black's BSC fic Guys, Girls, Nowhere on September 26, 2005, the day she created her FFN account.[4] Her comment ("we even have da same name!") suggests that her original account name may have been similar to Lioness Black's. The comment is written in Tara's style, lending support to the belief that Tara and Raven were both socks of the same person.
Lioness Black had been suspected of being behind My Immortal since 2006[2] and acknowledged receiving questions about it over the years.[5] The theory was proposed at r/Myimmortaldrama on Reddit in October 2020[6] leading to Lioness responding on Twitter:
- "A statement I apparently need to make in the year 2020: I did not write My Immortal. I have no idea who did. I am not associated with it or its author(s) in any way."
- "It seems my FFN account is favorited by a My Immortal account, and this has a reddit thread convinced that I'm the actual author."[1]
- "It's so funny. Namely, I won't even create socks for my most depraved fic because what if it gets popular? Some other name gets credit? I'd never have been able to keep a secret this long."[7]
Following Lioness's statements, there has been much alternative speculation about Raven's actions as they relate Lioness. Some suggest that Raven may have borrowed the name because she was a fan,[8] to troll/parody Lioness,[9][10] or to deliberately shift suspicion onto her.[11] Others believe Raven may have added Lioness as a favorite author simply because they shared a similar username at the time.[12]
