Celeste Hotaling-Lyons’s entrée into the world of fandom occurred when she attended the second Star Trek convention ever held (Feb, 1973, Commodore Hotel, NYC) and her mind was totally blown. Her cartoons, illustrations, and humorous fanfiction have appeared in various Star Trek, Star Wars, Blake’s 7, original Dr. Who, Forever Knight, and due South zines. She edited and published her first zine, D.S.V. (Blake’s 7) in 1994. Celeste then founded Teeny Gozer Production and under that publishing title edited, published, and co-edited various due South, Forever Knight, and X-Files zines. In 1999, she participated in an online chat discussing her history with fanzines, how fanzines were made and the impact of the Internet on fanzine production. All three parts are archived here.

Celeste gophered, helped out, and guest-escorted at various conventions including Scorpio, RCW 139, MediaWest*Con, and early Creation conventions. She played a major role on the con committee of DSV One in 1988, finally graduating to co-conchair of ORBIT in 1990.

Discovering fandom on the net in the mid-90s, Celeste joined ForKni-L and took part in three Forever Knight/Wars (Forever Knight RPG) on FKfic-L. She was also a member of The Due South Mailing List and the Bloody Awful Poet Society (BAPS), a BtVS/Spike-oriented list with over 2,000 members.

Celeste supports the Fan Culture Preservation Project and has a collection established in her name at the Special Collections Department at the University of Iowa Libraries.
