Selina Kyle/Bruce Wayne is a popular het pairing in the Batman fandom, which pairs Bruce Wayne (Batman) and Selina Kyle (Catwoman).

Canon

In most incarnations of Batman comics and other media adaptions Bruce/Selina have been together, either as canon love interests at one time, to even sometimes being married or at least have a child together.

In August 2017' Batman #24, Bruce/Batman proposed to Selina/Catwoman, and she accepted in December's issue #32. Issues #50 was billed as their wedding issue, but controversy arose when the New York Times spoiled the twist; Selina left Bruce at the altar.

Fandom

The pairing is one of the most popular Batman and DC pairings.

In 2018, before the much-hyped "Wedding Issue", the New York Times ran a story about the wedding issue, but revealed the twist; Selina left Bruce at the altar. Fans and retailers were furious; fans because the event had been hyped up by DC, and potentially allowed Batman's character to grow, and retailers, because the spoiler reveals damaged their profits. DC had organized events for the wedding day and distributed special editions to those retailers.

Batman films

Bruce/Selina is a popular ship in the Batman Returns fandom due to the chemistry between the two characters in the film. Fans often create gifs or picspams of their scenes together on Tumblr.

Nolanverse

Bruce/Selina is one of the top three ships in the Nolanverse, besides Bruce/Joker & Bane/John, despite Selina Kyle first (and only appearance) appeared in the last film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Introduced the name "Brucelina" for the pairing.[1][citation needed]

Gotham

To differentiate the age difference from the regular Bruce/Selina fanworks compared to canon Gotham ages of the two, fans started referring to the pairing "Baby Batcat"[2]. The pairing is also referred to as "Batcat" and "Brucelina".

Harley Quinn Interview

In June 2021, an interview with the creators of Harley Quinn (series) revealed that DC had prevented the show from including a scene in the third season in which Batman performs oral sex on Catwoman. This revelation went viral online, and memes, fics and artwork involving the act were subsequently created in the aftermath. For more information, see Batman Oral Sex Ban.
