Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a 2016 American superhero film featuring the DC Comics characters Batman and Superman. Directed by Zack Snyder, it is the second installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), following 2013's Man of Steel and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne), Henry Cavill (Clark Kent), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), and Gal Gadot (Diana). Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, and Ray Fisher appear as Barry Allen/Flash, Arthur Curry/Aquaman, and Victor Stone/Cyborg in brief appearances, which led to the Justice League film.

Clark/Bruce is the largest slash and overall pairing in the fandom. Works about this pairing often involve miscommunication, as is seen in the film. Since Superman apparently dies at the end of the film, but is resurrected in Justice League, fan works often involve Bruce's guilt over his role in Clark's death, Clark's rebirth, or explore the affects of it.
Clark/Lois is canon and the largest het pairing, although Diana/Bruce Wayne is not far behind.
Diana/Steve Trevor also appears within the fandom with the fans' expectation of a romance between the two (which is later canonized in the Wonder Woman film).
Despite the large following from Smallville fandom, Clark/Lex pairing is one of the rarer ships within the fandom. Diana/Clark is also a rare ship, mainly by fans that were fans of the comics version of the relationship.
