Astridv is a fanartist, reccer and occasional writer of meta. The majority of her works are in Stargate Atlantis fandom, where she was active from 2007 to 2010.
Recs
Astridv maintains rec lists for Bones,[1] Buffy the Vampire Slayer,[2] Stargate Atlantis,[3] and Leverage[4] fanfic and currently (2012) recs mostly Avengers fic. She was a moderator of the BetterBuffyFics recs mailing list, and is the archivist of the associated Better Buffy Fiction Archive.[5] Most of her recs are for gen stories.

Many of her meta posts focus on Misogyny in fandom, Character bashing, Mary Sues and fandom's behaviour towards female characters. Astridv was one of the few vocal supporters of Jennifer Keller and McKay/Keller in SGA fandom, which led to heated discussions on her journal.[6]

allergies: rye pollen, milk, and character bashing. I believe that character bashing is genuinely harmful and poisonous, not least because it's usually the female characters who bear the brunt of it. Same goes for the overuse of the dreaded term 'Mary Sue'. In general I'm absolutely unwilling to defend the gals and get dragged into a lengthy argument every time I just want to have a moment of squee and talk about a woman in fiction I love. (Been there. Done that. Gets old.) Or, to say it with dsudis's words: FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. And in the same vein: No interesting female characters my ass :P
